As good as ever

We have only been to the Pointer Inn twice which considering the quality of food and that we only five miles away is scandalous. Both times we have eaten there the food has been excellent, I do love their pies, proper pastry top and bottom with a generous and tasty filling. Price wise they are on... read more

After seeing all of the wonderful reviews about this pub myself and my partner decided to book in for an evening meal. The only positive about our experience was the staff who were extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Unfortunately, we were completely let down by the food which was flavourless, dry and generally well below average. I... More

Arrived here, barman asked are you eating with us today. I said hopefully, he said have you got a reservation. No. You can sit here or there. I thought this was a pub. He insisted on bringing drinks to us and taking our food order. We ordered pulled pork burger and side salad to share, we were eating our main... More

Once again the meal was excellent, the largest Yorkshire puddings I have ever been served. The staff are so attentive and even on a busy Sunday lunch time keep checking that everything is satisfactory. The place is always packed and you must book. For it to be full during January and February says it all.

I took an old friend there for his umpteenth birthday because he said he loved the place. I had never been before but understood why he liked it: so did I.

For a pub to be packed out with drinkers and eaters mid-week in early February, it must be something special and this family run establishment is top class. Friendly service, wholesome meals and giant portions results in satisfied customers. Obviously popular with the locals and therefore booking a table in advance is highly recommended.

We headed to The Pointer Inn from our holiday home in Ventnor to celebrate our 37th week of pregnancy. Warm welcome on our arrival and choice of nice roomy tables. Starters of Scallops with Crispy Parma ham & black pudding plus Thai fish cakes with sweet chilli sauce were both amazing. My pregnant partner had one of their smaller portion... More

They were very accommodating even thought they had a booking in. Food was amazing and great portion sizes having the choice of 2 sizes was ideal and such lovely fresh ingredients and the strawberry pavlova is to die for! 100% worth a visit no matter where u are staying but would recommend pre booking to guarantee a table

Just come back from a really superb meal at The Pointer Inn. Friends had recommended it but even so it exceeded our expectations. On a stormy wet day it provided the perfect anniversary meal and it was full too - not at all what you'd expect on a Wednesday in January if it wasn't frequented by the locals who, let's... More
