We arrived for Sunday lunch. No menus were provided as we were informed that the only food on offer was the carvery. We had no idea what the cost was for the meal or the drinks until the final bill arrived. We were told that there were either 2 or 3 courses, but again we had no idea of the... More

We have visited the Nettle many times before and have always been impressed with the food and service but this time was a complete disappointment. We were not told which meals they had run out of and therefore had to quickly rethink when they were ordered. The rib eye steak and duck breast were extremely tough and the steak brought... More

Having been a regular visitor to the Nettle Inn for some years now, I simply can't understand some of the negative reviews I've been reading on here. Nestled in the heart of Derbyshire, with stunning surroundings, this well presented, friendly and beautiful pub offers everything anyone could want. The owners are always friendly and polite and go out of their... More

I went with my family to the nettle for a meal to celebrate my 21st birthday, after arriving and walking in we waited in the bar area until a bemused man looked at us and told us to go sit in the lounge until our table was ready. Eventually we were told out table was ready and then found our... More

I always keep coming back here as the food is the best! They also have much larger portions than most gourmet restaurants so you'll need to be very hungry to squeeze in one of the delicious hand made desserts.

Having wanted for some time to dine at this pub with anticipation my family entered for what unfortunately turned out to be a mediocre service with basically prepared food such as can be found at any pub chain outlet. The place was not "Busy" and the waiting on staff not "Stretched" however we (my family) where left for 40mins without... More

We have been here before as it is a nice venue and although the service has been poor it has seemed good overall, however this visit on a Sunday lunchtime has settled it and we won't return. The offering was a buffet roast which was fine but the vegetarian option was disappointing. Then came the suites (advertised as homemade) where... More

I'm still in shock but feel that I must share my experience of the Nettle but I can assure you we will NEVER EVER visit again. The menus were shambolic, pages missing, no prices and a complete and utter mish mash, that should have been a warning. The ladies toilets were grubby, outdated and only one of the two toilets... I consider myself quite a "foodie" & living in Derbyshire I have eaten some spectacular food & experienced some spectacular service- working in hospitality I feel obliged to say the service I received (from none other than the two brothers that own this establishment) was the upmost outrageous, obnoxious & rude service that I have experienced in my entire life.... We went there to celebrate our anniversary, and it was a charming place to eat - we had been there for drinks before, and wanted to return to eat. The food was fresh, and very tasty indeed. There's a lovely log fire in case it is cold - which adds to the atmosphere. Do try it!
