Lovely place. After one too many bad experiences at our previous regular haunt in the Ashover area we decided that it was time to look elsewhere. This is when we gave The Nettle a try. Lovely place. After one too many bad experiences at our previous regular haunt in the Ashover area we decided that it was time to look elsewhere. This is when we gave The Nettle a try. It's a lovely very traditional place. Friendly and welcoming but efficient atmosphere, great food and good service. We've been twice now with family and both... More

Ok so the decor is the authentic country pub cluttered look that's not my favourite, BUT I really do like this place. We've had the carvery a couple of times now and yes the potatoes are better than homemade. On Sunday we came pretty late for lunch and the vegetables were looking a bit sad and the waiter was insistent... More

I was taken to The Nettle by my son for my 60th birthday (6 in group), Sunday Carvery. We were greeted on arrival, offered drinks to be put on account then asked to wait in the bar area which was comfortable and as expected had a country atmosphere. After a short wait we were shown to our table and the... More

We have family in the area and often travel to Ashover to buy some of the local specialities. We had stayed at the Nettle previously and had a very nice meal but the rooms, though characterful, were slightly jaded. The food is still very good but the decor remains in need of repair....... the lack of 3G and wifi make... More

I keep returning to this pub/restaurant because it offers that little bit extra for a memorable evening. The quaintness of the interior, with the open real fire, all adds up to setting the scene for a memorable evening. There is cask beer available. There is a special board as well as a very comprehensive menu. We dined on a Thursday... More

I booked a table for the evening. No welcome greeting on arrival found our own table. Waitress even though she'd seen us ignored us 3 times till we called her over. She was robotic in manners. She handed us a note with all the items not availble, which being vegetarians was everything on the menu!!! Appalling situation considering Tesco is... More

After checking this place out by having lunch and talking to a Hunt member I booked a table for 6 at 1.00pm Friday. Arriving on time we selected our starters only to be told later that items on the specials board were not available. When the food arrived we were disappointed, nothing special just ordinary pub food. Our main course... More

Only stayed here a couple of hours for a few drinks. Hope we can revisit one day. Good selection of beers, cosy olde worlde surroundings with crackling log fire and buzzing atmosphere.

we arrived on the 29th october.loved the open fires and the subtle lighting. It has a friendly, relaxing atmosphere and it almost feels like home. The food was great and we stayed the night. The rooms were cosy and had everything we needed. Great pub with nice staff.will be going there again. Shane white.

Never ever been disappointed with the food here!! One of the best places to eat out in derbyshire, great atmosphere, great restaurant, nice and old country pub. Sometimes the man on the bar can be quite rude, and the menus can take a bit long to come out but overall it's not enough to put you off this place. Service... More
