We tried this local eatery on 11/16/14. We are locals and are always on the lookout for new places to have dinner in Los Barriles. My novia said the Tripadvisor reviews placed this eatery at the top in Los Barriles so I was looking forward to having dinner at this street side location. We arrived around 6 pm and no... More

This place screams Mexico mom and pop eaery. It's small, dim and warm but not in a bad way. Just a kind of cool little sidewalk place cooking a few dishes over an open mesquite grill. I had the cheese stuffed bacon wrapped shrimp which were really good but deftintiely not cheap (about $23). The shrimp cocktail looked good.

This is next to the 'super mercdo' on the main road. It is a family owned and operated open air restaurant. Food is cooked over an open fire. The food is spectacular and very reasonable. It is an easy walk from the beach side hotels and is preferable to the food served in them.

My husband and I celebrated our 21st anniversary with the seafood cooked outside on an open fire. A big NFL playoff game was on and we had the place pretty much to ourselves which is lucky because there are only a few tables. The ceviche like appetizer with prawns around the edge was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The seafood was... More

Wow, that was quite an experience! Best ceviche and seafood chile relleno in the planet. If you can overlook the flies and the fact that there is no air conditioning, then you're in for a ride! The food is cooked on a wood oven in cast iron pots which gives it an amazing flavor. This was by far the best... More

We ate here twice, and it was the best food in Los Barriles for authentic Mexican. The aguachiles appetizer was amazing--if you can handle the heat! So much better than places like Smokeys filled with drunk Americans. Presented beautifully too.

The woman who cooks here used to sell fresh seafood from the back of her SUV which she parked just across the street. This little place has become one of the best places for dinner in a town with more than a few good restaurants. She cooks jumbo prawns wrapped in bacon, whole snapper, and other treats over a mesquite... More

La Pirata is an outdoor taco stand on the road leading into Los Barriles. We had 2 meals there that were AWESOME. First time, we had stuffed cabrilla - deep fried with cheese inside. An incredibly homemade tasty red chile sauce made it over the top delicious. Pescado Doctorino! Next night we had grilled lobster tails. Came with 3! Mojo... More

The lady at El Pirata cooks on an open fired mesquite grill. She is amazing to watch. Its not fast or fancy but its delicious. We have had the whole grilled red snapper, chile rellanos, coconut prawns and also the filet of fish with garlic. A must try.
