Best local tacos of the seafood variety. Fish, shrimp, scallop, etc... all very fresh with a salsa bar that is the best in town. Great lunch or breakfast spot but get there early for lunch or you might not get a table. It is usually packed. Prices are extremely reasonable, the people are the friendliest, and the food is super... More

Simple fresh tacos, great salsa! I recommend the shrimp from the grill on a corn tortilla. Delicious local food.

I wonder how often I'd have to eat here to get tired of it? It's the BEST - no wonder its #1 in Los Barriles. Husband loves the scallop tacos. i go for grilled shrimp, fish or usually carne with a big trip to the salsa/salad bar which is packed with my favorite hot peppers, fresh salsas, etc. and we... More

During our week in Los Barriles, we ate enjoyed El Viejo twice. Once we stopped and ate in this quaint little spot tucked along the "main drag" in town. We had been fishing and exploring the town, and got dropped off for a quick bite. Our server took our order, and quickly brought our food. However, we were not informed... More

El Viejo was one of those spots easily passed by on your way to or from the beach or catching the fishing boat. After riding KTM motorcycles with Captain Baja Adventure Tours (best trip ever!), our guide made a stop at El Viejo for tacos and a cold Coke. Super friendly, very cool on a hot day, and the best... My husband and I ate here in Sept 2011 and it was so delicious that we took the kids back when we travelled in April 2012. Our teenagers still talk about the tacos at El Viejo! There is also an ice cream store right next door that completed the meal nicely.

I have to say I don't get it...we ate here more than once (kept going back thinking it would get better) and it was just average. Neither of us had tacos, so maybe that is why it wasn't the greatest? Just wasn't impressed overall, though the 'salsa bar' (or fixin's) made it better)
