ended up here on accident...worked out great

On our first day we ventured across from our hotel the emporio in search of The Generals or Momma Norma's/Deborah's and stumbled across this place in the plaza area on a side street. Ended up working out great. We enjoyed 2x1 Mango Margarita's. They were huge and really good. I had fish... read more

I've been eating at La Malinche every year or 10 years...so you know I love it! They always have someone singing to recorded music, and if you get in the spirit of it and sing along a little you'll have a great time while also enjoying an excellent meal. The food here is authentic and varied. I recommend the Chile... More

Have been to La Malinche quite a few times over the years .... mostly because visiting guests want to try it out. Long story short, this place is frustrating ... both food and staff are unpredictable. On a good night, you'll praise this place ... on a bad night, you'll curse it. There is a large turnover of staff here... More

Thin cut prime rib filled the plate. it was nicely seasoned and cooked to order (casse crudo) very rare, Nice potato and vegetables. My wife loved her chicken with mole sauce, and the two-for-one mango margaritas were delicious. For under forty bucks, you can't beat it.

6 adults and 6 kids went to La Malinche for dinner. The wives were looking to eat molcajete. La Malinches molcajete was just OK. The broth was very good, but the chicken and beef were overcooked and tough. There was not a fish option. The kids all had tacos and quesadillas. They had no complaints. The margaritas were good, but... More

While the restaurant is a little out of the way, it is well worth it. The food was about the best we had in our week in Ixtapa. Lot's of fresh mahi-mahi prepared with many different and delicious sauces. The ambience may be modest, but the food makes up for it.

For this year’s trip we decided to venture out and look for those “diamonds in the rough” eateries and avoid the usual “four-five star” rated restaurants. La Malinche is located in Centro Comerical Ixtapa plaza along a narrow alley-walkway-corridor between the main street and the plaza center. The “décor” is deceiving during the day, but at night the lights with... More

The usual outside shill was so...well aggressive isn't the word, but forceful enough that after checking out all the other places in the area, we went back and were not in the least sorry. We had the red snapper special, and although I dislike fish with it's head still on (I think it's the dead eyeong) this one was at... More

So we decided to escape the all inclusive during a stay in Ixtapa and La Malinche was recommended by some people that have traveled to Ixtapa for 12 years. As we walked around the corner and up the alley from Senor Frogs, we could hear a woman singing and headed toward it. Luckily she was playing in the restaurant we... More

We ate here three times in the two weeks we were in Ixtapa (1/25/14 - 2/8/14). Kept coming back because of the excellent singer who is there Fri, Sat & Sun nights. She sings a combination of songs in English and Spanish, many with her own arrangements. Also love the Mexican food, especially the Malinche enchiladas and the melted cheese... More
