Rose among the old thorns

OK, let's just say it. Cayuco is one of the few places along Zicatela that doesn't leave you feeling sad and regretful and nostalgic for the olds days,. Which is to say this is a restaurant that could take its place on Puerto's real legitimate restaurant alley -- the Rinconada -- and fit right in... read more

Cayuco is a small palapa located on the sand at the very west end of Zicatela beach. Come a few minutes early, order the house Mezcal, sit back and enjoy the sunset. We ordered the octopus garnacha's, a variation on an Isthmo appetizer, and the catch of the day, which was a dorado (mahi-mahi). The dorado, cooked in white wine... More

Delicious food & drinks with very friendly service right near the 'Hands of God' sculpture on the beach. Everything we had was good, but the ceviche and the signature mezcal cocktails (skip the margaritas) were standouts

Absolutely exquisite from start (an incredible and inventive salsa based on a pepper I had never heard of) to finish. I started with a cold tomato soup with mussels that looked beautiful and tasted like heaven - garlic and cilantro bursting out of beautiful half mussel shells floating on top. Intoxicating. I then had an absolutely perfectly cooked Dorado nestled... More

Last night was our first visit to Cayuco Cocina Oaxaquena. Upon arrival, I asked our waiter if fresh tuna was available and was told yes. As I had heard of the delicious seared tuna salad, it was my immediate choice and 2 others in our party of 4 ordered the same. I was very disappointed when the beautiful looking salad... More

I've eaten a lot of ceviche in my life, but this was some of the best. Also, the location is ideal if you have little ones because the tables are all at grade on the beach so there's no cement steps to fall down. Also, the can just play on the beach. As the name suggests, mescal cocktails are one... More

On the beach, live music on Thursdays, interesting menu....we had an alto sax player and pouring rain on the night we were there. The menu was really interesting, though two items I wanted were unavailable, the beef tongue and the panacotta. The ceviche was amazing, one of the best ever and enough for four people to share! The mescal drinks... More

Cayuco has an eclectic and interesting menu that reflects a true chef in the kitchen. Our party of 6 had ceviche, tuna tartar, a tuna steak, dorado steaks and a cold tomato soup with mussels. Everything was delicious, prepared with herbs, spices and sauces that were flavorful and interesting. The setting is ideal for a tropical evening out. One issue... More

we sat under a palm tree and could see the lights surrounding the bay. Everything our group of six ordered, from the MahiMahi special, the seared tuna, the cold tomato soup with mussels, and grilled shrimp was absolutely fabulous! Best yet. They even ordered two taxis for us when we were ready to leave.
