Atmospheric pub

Great old, atmospheric pub. Ideal for lunch after a walk along the coastal path - or as a destination from St. Ives. Dog and walker friendly, good beers, very good food. Fish chowder excellent.

It was the perfect archetypal village pub with high quality food without the pretentious aspects often associated with gastro-pubs. We visited midweek in February but the pub was still buzzing and a large group left as we arrived to head off to the local village panto. The food was excellent, the beer was excellent, the service was excellent, the atmosphere... More

perfect - so much so that I reluctantly write this as I don't want others to know about it! Huge fire, thick granite walls, mermaids, live folk music, good ales, lovely food... it serves no nonsense pub food, not pretentious overpriced morsels like at the nearby Gurnard's Head. It also remains the heart of the local community.

Great place, good welcome, excellent food and ale, unfussy and entirely pleasurable. What a good country pub should be.

In what seems to be the middle of nowhere, The Tinners Arms is a warm, welcoming pub with a county atmosphere. Stopping for a light lunch snack, we tried the soup and scampi & chips. To wash it all down we were able to try the local ales before making our decision. The service was great, friendly and happy to... More

We loved this wee pub and came here two nights in a row for dinner. In the winter the open fire warms the whole pub or you can pop through to the restaurant to enjoy the very impressive menu created by a lovely chef who we met and had a good yarn to about the food. Wine selection is also... More

This was not our first visit to the Tinners, but definately the first in winter. We received a warm welcome, a good choice of wine, spirits and beers. We ordered our food and sat near a blazing fire, which was very welcome. The food was served in a good time, steaming hot and well presented. It was completely delicious. Will... More

The Irish like to think they have all the best bars in the world. Well, this delightful pub in Cornwall, adjacent to the Coastal Walk and within sight of the sea, would give any pub in Ireland a run for its money. Its set back, almost as though it had sunk over time, into the neighboring rocks and earth. It... More

Visited The Tinners Arms for lunch, luckily at 12.20 on a Friday we were the first to arrive, so had a choice of tables in the bar. I sat by the roaring log fire which was so welcoming. The Zennor Mermaid beer was very flavoursome. We ordered the soup, Cauliflower and stilton, which was served with fabulous fresh chunks of... More

Wow, what can we say. Thus pub was recommended and didn't disappoint. After a 10k coastal walk from St Ives to Zennor, that was more like an assault course in places this was so worth the wait. The crab sandwich with homemade chips were unbelievably good and the ham sandwich , simple but so satisfying with a pint. The bar... More
