don't be fooled, the location is stunning and the restaurant is beautiful. They have a wonderful wine list and the service can be good. Unfortunately the food is on a downhill slide. It's just not what it used to be. The owner is increasingly abrasive and thinks nothing of berating her staff in view of customers. Not many locals frequent... More

The food is great, atmosphere outstanding but I feel bad for the people who work here. Most really try and do a good job but the owner should quit. Hand it over to someone who actually cares, takes pride and loves what they do. Why are you even in the service industry??? Even the resident poodle is miserable so that's... More

Loved the friendliness and the views and the pizza! Service was average, it took a long time to get the bill after we asked for it (30-minutes). The food was very good. Large selection of wines.

Our party of six arrived for dinner. We ordered drinks and ice water in a glass for each of us. The owner with a horrible attitude refused to serve us water. She insisted on us buying bottled water. We walked out. Too bad for them.

A group of us went here to eat. We asked for a "glass" of water rather than the bottle they always sell. Their glasses of water are from a source as pure, if not better, than the bottled stuff. When we were moderately insistent on the glass, the owner came out and almost accosted one of our group, telling us... More

We ate here twice in one week! We have been going to Ambar's since 2000 and it is always fabulous. My husband LOVES the French onion soup, the crepes are delicious, the pizza is fabulous, and the Cesar salad was wonderful. Ambar's is a rare gem in an unsuspecting place.

We dined here Jan 16. The facility, view, and sunset could not have been better...anywhere. The staff is courteous, professional, and attentive. The menu is Italian with seafood variants. They offer wood burning oven pizzas; at least a dozen or so. I ordered the Italian Pizza that included thin crust, salami, pepperoni, and ham. This was one to write home... More

This is one of the best restaurants in Barra. I love their spinach salad with roasted asparagus, prosciutto, nuts and tarragon dressing. I have eaten that for a meal and feel completely satisfied after I'm done. My husband got a special that was seared ahi tuna with a cilantro sauce that was amazing. I ordered the filet mignon with a... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by people who enjoyed the pizza, baked in wood burning oven. We went for the sunset, which was beautiful, and enjoyed the ambiance. But they were very busy the night we dined - with a large birthday party, and service suffered. As well, the food was average at best. My thin-crust pizza was burned... More

What a great night we had here. There were 10 of us and the service was excellent! Not one person complained about their food. It started pouring at one point and we were quickly moved to drier ground! We will go back again next visit, great location!
