This is a very typical restaurant and certainly not bad, but we were obviously hoping it was going to be better than average. The staff were friendly enough, service was adequate and our food was acceptable. We ordered steaks for our mains, and they were all cooked correctly, but were still only ok. If you think this is a boring... More

Had a nice bite to eat at the Weld Arms (and a lovely drop of ale), made all the better for the helpful and friendly service received. The food was slightly mixed - my own dish was a particularly small portion (steak - best guess it was 6oz or less), and average on the whole. The pork sandwich was a... More

Food quality was good although portion sizes were on the small side. Tables a little cramped although I believe an extension is planned...or so it said in the outside loos. Not that I minded the outside loos...that was a lovely reminder of how country pubs used to be :)

Feeling Hungary after an enjoyable visit to Lulworth Castle we decided to stop at the Weld Arms. We both decided to order the Roast Beef - what a disappointment! Be warned - only order this if you like your meat RAW!!

Forget the bad reviews this place is purely delightful. Pub full of character with A country cottage feel, yes toilets are outside but just adds to the charm and quirkiness of a cottage pub. Staff are charming with a real sense of pride about the food, drinks they serve. Food was superb, after eating in many local pubs, restaurants in the... More

The food was OK - tasty but not a lot of it. I asked for no coleslaw on my ploughman's and received reassurances from two staff it would be omitted - sadly the message didn't get through to the kitchen so I had to leave adjacent food (an allergy issue) The location is good, however. I imagine a nice spot... More

We visited after attending the Wessex Car Show, I ordered the roast beef, they gave me roast belly of pork, which I'm not allowed to eat (too fatty). They eventually brought my roast beef and I can safely say that it was the worst pub meal I have had in years! Most of it was inedible, I couldn't cut or... More

After looking at the menu on their website, there appeared to be several choices of vege meals. Whilst I appreciate that menus are only samples, on arrival the only things available were Cream of Leek soup (didn't enquire whether vege or not), salads or jacket potatoes. The cheese wasn't even vege. Reluctantly ordered a jacket spud with beans & coleslaw;... More
