Visited late evening. Good real ales, very busy with seating in short supply but we found some in a nooks and cranny. A large pub with many rooms and outside space.

This pub could be really nice but it is shouting out for some T L C. It has had quite a few owners, but never seems to be welcoming. There seems to be a lack of atmosphere. The staff are polite but even when the pub isn't busy there is a bit of a wait for your meal. Its overpriced,... More

The Bun Penny has been around for years. However, they do keep upgrading the décor and it is very pleasant. Drinks reasonably priced. Food was good and well served. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. Outdoor area for the kids.

We went today. Got there and asked if they seated they said go find somewhere and we'll come over. After 20 mins waiting I went and said can we at least have a menu. (Bearing in mind they were quiet) another 15 mins wait and finally some service. When the dinner came out my3 yr old had no veg, when... More

Beer £3.50 a pint, belly pork £10.45. The beer is good, 3 real ales available, and the meal was tasty but nothing special. The staff were polite, friendly, but again just average in 2014. We would go there again if there was nowhere more attractive nearby but would not seek to visit the Bun Penny.

the staff were attentive and we were offered at he conservatory for lunch as we were a big group of older people from a club. the meals had been ordered in advance. he pork was delicious, the fish pie rather watery. unfortunately when it rained the conservatory leaked and is awaiting repairs. I would go back with my family and... More

Went here last month with the wife and quite frankly I wish I hadn't. When we arrived the greeting from the staff was not very welcoming, we ordered the gammon, egg and chips and the pie of the day and neither was good. The gammon was way overcooked and chips were not very hot. At £11.25 quite pricey for gammon &... More

I can only assume that anyone giving this establishment a negative report, have some other axe to grind, or are just generally unhappy people, as my visit for lunch today was totally beyond reproach in every respect. The atmosphere was all that an English pub could be, the staff were welcoming, attentive and courteous and the food could not have... More

My wife and I had had a long day in the hospital, so decided on the way home to stop for a meal rather than cook when we arrived home. Decided on the Bun Penny as it is local to our home and we have eaten there before with the family and had a meal which was good, but nothing... More

Visited with friends for Sunday lunch. I have eaten here before (about a year ago) and was so disappointed in the down turn. Service and food quality was awful. Our bill came to over £60 for 4 of us for lunch and one drink each. We feel the pub is dying a slow painful death. It is cold, has no... More
