We were staying at this historic hotel, which we liked, and ate here on our night of arrival. We don't usually eat in hotel restaurants, but we were tired and hadn't yet explored. We had a roast chicken dish and a roast pork dish. Both were dry, even though the pork was smothered in a rather non-descript gravy and accompanied... More

Very good food, friendly service and a great setting. We enjoyed a four course lunch at a very reasonable cost. Our evening meal was served at short notice and again the service was excellent, the food great. Mole is their specialty; while I'm not a great fan, it is very popular.

The restaurant in the Hotel Colonial is certainly adequate if you are staying there, as I was. I would not go out of my way to eat there however since Puebla abounds with good food.

This restaurant came highly recommended by the staff at our hotel. We ordered the chiles en nogada (poblano chile stuffed with fruits and covered with a walnut sauce), which were delicious. But beware: they are HUGE! We thought there were two chiles under the tnogada sauce, they were so big. Plus, they are very rich, so none of us could... More

Each day, a 5 course "meal of the day" special is offered. It is usually around $9.00 (US) or $105 pesos. On weekends, the price is a little higher but the food offerings are more extensive. Food is excellent, service comparable to a 5 star restaurant, value unbelievable! And, of course, you may order "a la carte" off of the... More

Reading the reviews before I went to Puebla, I had high expectations of the Hotel Colonial restaurant. And granted, the mole is very good. But beyond this, the food is very average Mexican; okay but nothing to go back for. Breakfast, on the other hand, was very, very good; was included in room price & offered four different hot items,... More

One block East of downtown Puebla is the Hotel Colonial and inside its homonymous restaurant. The Hotel Colonial is well priced, well located and has the oldest working elevator in Mexico (117 yrs. old). The restaurant is a must go. The food is excellent. One has the choice of a full menu, or a fixed five course meal with two... More

If you want to try mole over eggs, the Hotel Colonial Restaurant offers a breakfast special with mole over either scrambled or fried eggs. It includes toast and refritos and coffee as well. A delicious way to try a regional specialty.

This was our second stay at the hotel, which we reviewed last year. This year we wanted to review the restaurant. First, the service in the restaurant is as good as it gets. The waiters are very professional, old school, but wam and personable. Here's an example of a mistake on our part and how they handeled it. We flat... More
