one of the worst fish experience I have had: freezer-smelling fish rapidly defrosted and over-fried with gummy-like shrimps loaded with salt and oil
Food was good, they had a nice wine list. Excellent service. The best thing was the view of the arena. We sat inside with the view of the arena and it was beautiful. We went to Bar Botarel first for a drink, which I highly recommend, its where they use to keep the bulls, beautiful archways throughout. Its is definitely... More
La Quinta Real hotel us built on the remains of the old bull ring in Zacatecas. The tiered restaurant overlooks the bull ring itself and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is excellent and the service is even better. Whether you are having an intimate dinner for two or enjoying dining with a group of friends, you will... More
Dinner choice for a Sunday evening. Nice location could have been nicer if the aqueduct which acts as a backdrop was lighted at night. The restaurant has tiered seating modified from the bull ring tiers. There were only 3 tables dining total during our visit. The restaurant: Good comfortable seating, lovely table layout, good service. We all had the chopped... More
We went on a Sunday morning - they serve a buffet breakfast in the restaurant (overlooking the former bull ring!). There were all kinds of authentic Mexican foods, and also a made to order omelette bar and fresh tortilla and fajitas! The food was of very good quality with bi-lingual waiters and the surroundings elegant! Price was reasonable for the... More
What a wonderful treat to find such fine dinning in Zacatacas. Yes, it is pricey - by Mexican standards, but certainly a good value by North American standards. The portions are large, and come to the table piping hot. Our group had Shrimp Thermidor, Grilled Trout, Fish in Honey and Almonds and Steaks and they were all were all excellent.
A must on your list of things to do in Zacatecas. It has a wonderful ambience and setting in the re-purposed bullring. The food and service are great. Go and enjoy!
After using the wonderful gym at the hotel, we went to dinner at La Plaza Restaurant in the hotel. We had reserved a table in front of the window overlooking the bullring. The restaurant is elegant and the view is spectacular. Lonely Planet said the food is “superb”. We were totally underwhelmed by the food and the service. We were... More
