Fine food,ale and situation

Evening food starts at 6pm;we booked a table for 6pm as we like to eat early. Nice varied menu, good local ales (Mersea Yo-Boy and Maldon's Mighty Oak brewery Captain Bob) . Nice atmosphere, good service, reasonably priced for quantity and quality of food. A good choice for a meal on my birthday,and... read more

Me and my friends sat there for four hours talking, eating and drinking with a load of buskers in the pub part singing oly... More

We went without a booking, and were seated at a table at the back, up a couple of steps. This was a good thing as the person we went with is a bit deaf, and conversation would have been difficult in the main part which was crowded, with music playing. We were told that as we were a "walk in"... More

Had Sunday roast there recently, not impressed. It was swimming in gravy, and the beef although tender, was difficult to cut because it was a bit 'stretchy', carrots overcooked, roast potatoes overcooked rather than crispy. Would probably eat there again, but not have a roast.

Called in for lunch and given the great weather we were able to sit outside. Good food and friendly prompt service with a great local ale on tap. Very pleasant and hope to call in again before our holiday ends.

Been here a few times, always good food, but had lunch here 26,7,2015. Had fish chowder, amazing, never had so much fish, mussels, squid etc in a chowder. Good service and nice surroundings. 10/10.

Went to the Coast Inn for a Sunday lunch with a friend as part of a day trip out. Parking is a nightmare. We got the last spot in car park attached which holds about 8 cars. and overflow one opposite was full... it holds about a dozen. View ere lovely over the river and plenty of outside seating. The... Wheelchair accesible and friendly welcome. Not too long menu suggesting home cooking and not just microwaved "Brake Brothers" buy-in. Two had very good loin of lamb and one the liver and bacon. Generous portions and nice selection of al dente vegetables. The two who had puddings were pleased with chocolate gateau and ice cream respectively. Nice wines to accompany throught... More

A low key pub/restaurant with beautiful views over the estuary. Even tho it was a wet Monday it was still pretty busy but not so that there was a long wait for the food. extensive menu with lots of local fish included. Restful décor, wooden floors and not too many of the obligatory nets and fishing floats. Car park and... More
