We have been frequenting this pub for a number of years, but in recent times have not visited Hope Cove until last week. We ordered the fish and chips, it was superb, I know the decor is shabby, but you must put the pub in its context. Its a coastal pub, fishermen, lifeboat crew, dogs, kids, sailors farmers, artists, walkers,... More

we visited for lunch and enjoyed it very much , I am a bit of a crab fan and I have to say it was the best crab sandwich ever , loads of filling , delicious , the rest of the party's food was equally good , a lovely spot and local cider was excellent too ,

Nice location but tables/chairs/menus dirty. Ordered fish and chips, came with inedible old peas and soggy bonefilled fish. This place could be so much more considering the position, but seems content to dish out second rate fare to one time visitor tourists who come for the view. Give this place a miss.

Hope Cove is a very pretty and quiet spot on the coast near Salcombe, Devon. We visit the location regularly for some peace and quiet but on this occasion we decided to try out the pub. We don't usually choose fish and chips because you can't really beat eating it out of a paper on a windy sea front. This... More

Whilst staying in Salcombe, a trip to Hope Cove in the evening, to see the sunset, has always been a must. The Hope and Anchor has been a part of family visits to the cove for years. It'd been a long time since I'd been myself though, and I was very pleasantly surprised with the rennovation and modernisation work that... More

There is a bit of competition in hope cove for eating out, but this pub has got it right. Very traditional, as is Hope Cove, with a proper village bar feel and plenty of quieter seating in the restaurant section as well as outside. Food excellent value , very well prepared and service very good. Especially nice if you like... More

Just had a weeks camping in the area. Hope cove is a truly magnificent place to visit. The hope and anchor pub is a fine hostelry serving the best beer in the world,Tribute ale from St Austell brewery in Cornwall. We ate twice here and both times the food was fab. The multi national staff are very friendly and helpful.... More

We had Dirty Fries, Mussels, chips and garlic bread. It was all okay nothing to shout about, the Dirty fries needed cheese with flavour rather than chewed mozzarella. Mussels was very good and I shared that with my two small children. Garlic bread was like cheap supermarket garlic bread no parsley and no visible bits of garlic, however it was... More

Gorgeous pub with potential to be a 'proper' Devon pub, instead they decide to serve ridiculous drinks, ask for a cider and all they have is either cheap, or pretentious flavours like kiwi or strawberry! This isn't real cider! Ordered the dirty fries, which sounds amazing, pulled pork, mozzeralla, on top of chips, it arrived and was massively disappointed, I... More

Okay, so things change in 10 years, but this place is certainly not as good as it was 10 years ago. The food is average to poor and the service (including having to order everything at the bar) not good enough for the prices charged. That said, as a pub it's just about okay (but it should serve Devon beer)... More
