Superb location and Food

We having been coming here for years and were delighted to see the refurbished bar and restaurant. Much more space now both inside and outside. The staff as always were excellent and the food was just as good. The fisherman's pie was full of meaty fish, probably the best I've had. Such a wonderful... read more

On holiday in Challaborough Bay Holiday Park found this Inn at Hope Cove. Excellent Lunch and very friendly service. Would certainly go there again.

Had a couple of lunches here in the past week whilst on holiday and totally impressed. The food is excellent and service is quick, important when you've just finished a long walk! Perhaps sometimes even more important is the attitude of the staff? Well, Emma W, you were just perfect. Thank you. Our little dog, Lottie, totally agrees!

The Hope and Anchor has a really fantastic vibe. We discovered it in Aug 13 when we met up with friends after my husband took part in the Fastnet Race. The place was incredibly busy and reminded me of a Greek Taverner what with the fishermen, families and gorgeous food. My husband took me there again during a romantic weekend... More

Heartbroken to return to the Hope and Anchor yesterday and find that it has been 'boutiqued'! It's lost all its character. The food is fine, but the soul has gone out of the place, and the staff, although polite and efficient, look and act like they work at a London branch of Pret a Manger. Some people might like this... This place has just had a make over and wow what a differance. Its always been popular and I think it will be even more, I just hope the staff can cope. Food is always good and the atmosphere is very seaside. If your in the area pop in here and enjoy. There is an outside balcony on the first... More

Its just what Hope Cove needed, what a change and yes despite some its just what is needed. I apprerciate certain people want to have a beer and a packet of crisps in a dingy dark bar infront of the fire sitting there for hours on end, but! life has moved on and this St Austell is certainly the way... First time down here since the new refurbishment. 7th April. We really like the new set up and theres lots of room now. Looks great on the outside and light and airy inside. We found a table upstairs looking out to the bay. The service was friendly and the food was plentyful and very nice. We will be coming again... More

We recently stayed near to Hope Cove for a 5 night break, and walked the mile down to the cove on the first night for a drink and a meal. The experience was so good we came back on the next 3 nights as well ! The first time ever we have repeated a dining experience. Firstly, the Hope and... More

After a walk on a hot April day a friend and I returned to have lunch at the Hope and Anchor, joined by my wife. We sat outside and after a refreshing pint of Tribute had sandwiches and another pint. The Hope and Anchor is now much larger and lighter after the refurbishment and the staff are equipped with various... More
