The gate is padlocked and it is obvious that the place closed in a hurry. Tablecloths were left on the tables and are now on the ground. Checked back a week later and it was the same.

Love love love!!! The whole experience of Cata Wine was incredible! From the moment we walked in we were greeted and felt so welcomed. The food was excellent, and great service. We loved the look of the restaurant, the artwork, the local artists, the live music. Such a great evening.... Thank You!

From an apparently out-of-the-loop (albeit with recent publication date) tourist magazine, we went here expecting the previous establishment that other reviewers are talking about. What we got is insanely overpriced, small portions of cafeteria fare. Salad, pasta, two glasses of bottom-shelf wine (later checked, and this wine sells for 7 USD a bottle in stores) came to over $110 USD... More

The only good thing about Cata Wine was Barry (my namesake, after all) - who was the host, not the owner and he's no longer there. A little research revealed that he refused to put his name and reputation on the line and quit when the new owner and new chef changed the menu. Yes, new ownership appears to be... More

So much fun! Great food and wine. Barry is the bonus! Really quaint. Good music too! Service will be unmatched.

The menu in the restaurant was 10-15% higher than the identical menu online. The total bill for the 4 of us was 222 USD before tip at the restaurant, but $ 189 after the credit card exchange at the bank, so the warnings in past TA reviews are correct. Pay your bill in pesos on the credit card, not in... More

Stunned how good everything was. Unexpected treat on a random recommendation. While on our honeymoon we came across Barry, Frankie and Chef. Juan . Impeccable service with strong food preparation and tastes which left us smiling broadly at perhaps the best dinner date we've had since our first date. Truly something special. The Hawaiian shrimp was a new play on... More

As we were walking by the restaurant earlier in the week (Tuesday), 1 of the owners, Barry (an Italian, raised in NYC, spent 20 years in Vegas, now 8 years in San Jose) schmoozed us into checking out his place. As a fellow New Yorker, it was easy to become friendly with this warm individual. It turned out a jazz... More

Looking for a place to eat on our first night in San Jose, We walked in here not knowing anything about the place, and they took us in like family and treated us like were royalty. We had a great meal that wasn't even on the menu and the drinks were very good also. I would highly recommend this place... More
