Description: El Matador is the finest restaurant in San Jose, owned by a former Matador, Pablo Velez. It boasts Mediterranean Mexican dining. It is in a neighborhood next to the Nun's Hospital. Their Scallopine Marsala is to die for as well as the other items on the menu. Please add this restaurant to your list. I can't imagine why it hasn't been on there as we have been eating there for at least 3 or 4 years.

Highly recommend the shrimp quesadillas. Also love the queso con chorizo appetizer. Nice location in the harbor but you have to avoid the hard sell from the other restaurants as you pass by.

El Matador was recommended to us by our concierge at Cabo Azul. He told us the restaurant was closed during the "slow" season but the owner would open for large groups. Having ten in our group, we told the concierge that we would love to try it out. The restaurant, food and the lessons taught about being a matador were... More

We have had Chef Pablo and co. come to our house in Cabo and cook for us four times. Each time is better than the last. Pablo and his team are prompt, courteous, entertaining (ask him to demonstrate his bullfighting techniques), and on top of that, the food is spectacular! It's the ideal way to dine--in the comfort of your... More

Wonderful setting in a charming courtyard. Excellent menu, service, and food. Impossible to find fault with this restaurant. With regards to the ignorant remarks made by the scholar that left the previous review who stated, "it is located in an area full of Mexicans" Shouldn't be a huge surprise because after all we are in Mexico ! Chateaubriand for two... More

I was a few days ago with some friends at this restaurant. the waiters service was very slow. The food was a little expensive., Especially not a beautiful landscape near them .. the restaurant is located in a normal house in an area full of Mexicans. I was not impressed at all. I would have expected from a service and... More

A cab ride to a funky section of San Jose del Cabo to a house turned into a restaurant. We enetred and were greeted by a tall gentleman who was the owner and a former bull fighter in Mexico. We were escorted into the backyard and seated at a table next to a small swimmining pool. This was truly his... More

Wow. The food was really very nice. My husband and I had dinner there last night. we started with a tequilla cosmo.....then moved on to wine. Small list, but good options. We started with the tuna carpaccio, very nice and the scallops....served with flare...in small tea cups with sauce and bread. Bay scallops though. I had the Filet Mignon, with... More

A friend had recommended El Matador and we were so glad they did. Everything was amazing! The ambiance was great, the service and food were terrific. We ate there twice while in San Jose del Cabo. There were 4 of us, so we each tried different items each time. Everything tasted amazing but we seemed to talk most about the... More

The staff at the restaurant were very polite and prompt with service. We had caprese salad and scallops for an appy. My boyfriend had the shrimp for dinner and I had the filet mignon. I was a little weary at first as I am from beef country, but it was a amazing! And the lava cake we had for dessert... More

We had a family of nine gathering in Los Cabos and read an advertisement for El Matador in San Jose del Cabo. It's not easy to find the first time as it is on the West side of the highway from the airport and about 1/2 mile from downtown San Jose. Upon arrival we were greeted by Pablo Velez, the... More
