Traditional pub with a great food menu and a good pint

We popped in on the way home after a cycle ride around Swithland. The beer and food was really great for the price. We had belly pork and pasta. Portion sizes were good and we took a small doggie bag with us. Also served a lovely pint of beer. Will go again.

Friendly, and a great atmosphere. Just be careful when driving through the car park, it can be quite tight.....so maybe walk instead :)

This is a favourite little local. Don't judge it by the exterior, which looks a tad shabby and bleak. It has a nice interior with two rooms and a real fire. Lovely food, with a regularly-changed menu and some interesting-sounding specials nights; Norwegian for instance. CAMRA recommended and with a good range of beer. The beer garden slopes down to... Two friends and I took a very last minute decision to go to The Swan for a meal and wondered if we would be OK for a table. It turned out that all was well and we were sent to the dining room to consider the menus to find that a table for three was all laid out ready for... More

Whilst visiting via the river Soar, we moored just below the lock on the meadow opposite the weir. The 48hr moorings above the lock were already taken with long termers. Did a bit of research on TA as to best pub option and decided upon The Swan. Good choice it turned out. A friendly old traditional pub with locals doing... More

Very friendly welcome slightly let down by the fact that they were surprised that our son had brought a dog with him. This was despite the fact that he'd checked on-line and by phone about the dog when he booked a table for the four of us. This was a minor blip as they welcomed us and the dog once... More

Called in for a couple of pre curry drinks with friends. Quick and very friendly service, good choice of real ales and a number of ciders on offer. Well worth a visit.

We visited The Swan last night and had a great experience. Friendly, attentive staff. Good beers and excellent food. This was the best pub meal we've eaten in a long time. We will be back and would thoroughly recommend.

We booked for the Eastern European dinner (a different country every month). We had hot beetroot soup, goulash, venison and apricot slice amongst the three course menu. We tasted each others choices to get a flavour of what was on offer. It was nice to have the option of something completely different from the normal curries/pub grub. They did Australian... More
