Most of the food was good. I enjoyed the empanadas and the fetuccine alfredo. However, the Argentine chorizo was terrible. The service was below average. We had a very hard time getting the attention of our server. This place is okay, but I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends.

We came upon this restaurant on the recommendation of our guest house, the Posada Corazon, the recommendation was well placed. The small restaurant was busy but not crowded. The diverse menu, whilst Argentine at its core, offered a range of Italian specialities. The Argentinian owner was at hand to guide to guide and advise our choices. Polite and courteous, he... More

Good food and service. Four of us and we all had steak. Thought the side dishes were very good and the steaks were extremely good - just too much meat for me and no smaller portion available. Dessert was also very good. Atmosphere was great and we loved the music! Price was reasonable.

Isn't Mexico supposed to be a better value? I can't figure out why you can't find a decent wine list in Mexico. These are CA prices for wine, but terrible selection. And this is indicative of pretty much everywhere. Love the soundtrack - tango. Set the right mood. One the food, my husband said his steak was great, and we... More

Outstanding! Went with my wife, who doesn't eat red meat that much, but I love it, so we asked the owner to make a recommendation ad followed his lead -- we had a delicious green salad with apple as a starter, then we shared his gnocchi with Italian sausage which were light and fluffy (the best I've had yet anywhere... Four of us went to dinner at El Tomato. The menu has a great selection of Italian and Argentinian food. The salad was fresh and crisp. Three of us had the Arrachera and one had the vegetable lasagna. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We ordered a bottle of Malbec which was very reasonably priced and perfect for our entrees. They... More

This is an excellent place for a simple meal. We've eaten at most of the steak restaurants in San Miguel and have found that El Tomato has the best ribeye in town. We usually eat here 3 or 4 times during our 2 month stay in San Miguel. The portions are large enough (particularly the ribeye) that you can easily... More

Based on TripAdvisor reviews, we had a Saturday night dinner at El Tomato. The atmosphere at El Tomato is charming, and two wonderful musicians came in to play while we were there. We had difficulty finding a wine -- our first two choices were no longer available and our third choice turned out to be a bad wine (I know,... More

We hadn't been to El Tomato in a few years, but noticed the decor and restaurant setting had changed so I thought we would give it a try as they are one of the Restaurants accepting VIP Club card. We were very impressed by the food, service and ambiance. What a change from the once okay vegetarian cuisine to this... More
