Dinner here was a big disappointment. The caprese salad could have been good, but the tomatoes were hard, which ruined it. The beef lasagna, however, was downright disgusting. It had HUGE chunks of almost raw beef in it...it was horrid. We could not eat it, and nothing is ever taken off the bill in Mexico no matter how undercooked/improperly prepared... More

A last minute change in plans sent us here and we were not all that inspired. We couldn't get water by the glass (that should have tipped us off but didn't.) I asked for a salad along with my entree that came with two sides and was told that I couldn't...then he changed his mind. Wife and sister shared an... More

Hi Tmprinting, I am sorry you feel this way about your experience at El Tomato. And to be fair, I just wanted to clarify some points both to you and to other readers on TripAdvisor: 1) Water by the glass is ALWAYS an option, we never deny a glass of water to ANYBODY and the water that do serve is... We've eaten here before and it was great. This time, it was okay. One of us had the salmon, which was not cooked enough and sent back, but then it was perfectly cooked and described as "the best meal I've had in San Miguel". The rest of us thought our meals were just okay. And we found it quite pricey... More

Cozy little place that implies Italian, although is Argentinian. Might be ok for a drink and entrada. My meal - a house speciality of penne pasta with peppers in a wine broth with sausage was tasteless and the "sausage" was too tough to chew. A glass of red wine was served ice cold - guess perhaps it was opened and... More

Just walking around San Miguel and saw a lovely table in a window. We sat and had Bruschetta two ways. I think it was some of the best ever. Although a little pricey, the service and ambience made the experience worth it.

We went there for my birthday and it was a nice treat. I decided to try the arrachera as it was recommended in another review. I normally buy a better/more expensive cut of beef but decided to try this. It was ok but not wonderful to me. But I have a feeling it was just not the cut of meat... More

When you tire of poblanos filled with queso head to El Tomato. Not only were the steaks, polenta and red wine delicious we enjoyed an evening of romantic entertainment. Tango lessons were being conducted on the patio. The intimate interior of the restaurant was full so we were directed to the terrace. Al fresco dining, rooftop views and patios can... More

We always goto this restaurent when we are in town. All dishes we have had have been great. The wine list is good and you can always find a good Malbec to go with your steak. The empanadas and steaks are always a winner

I'm a frequent customer of El Tomato and I've submitted a review before, but after going there for dinner with a couple of friends last week I feel the need to submit another high rating. The menu is varied enough so everybody had something different. My wife and I shared the Ricotta, Walnut and Prosciutto ravioli and they were light... More
