Description: AUTHENTIC RESTAURANT and GRILL from ARGENTINE and URUGUAY in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, MEXICO.Argentinean and Uruguayan cuisine is a fusion of European cuisines (Italy, Spain, France, and England) and because of this it does not include hot chilis or strong spices. Our cuisine is characterized by balanced flavors and subtle spices. Our steaks are cooked and smoked over the grill with pure mesquite hardwood embers. Although La Virundela is best known for our steaks, we also have delicious dishes for VEGETARIANS such as our Grilled Vegetables and our Grilled Mushrooms. Our salads are really outstanding !!!!Our EMPANADAS are the very best you ever tasted and the recipe is in our family for more than a hundred of years. La Virundela´s most distinctive offering, of course, is its food. The menu is imaginatively balanced with traditional Argentinean and Uruguayan favorites cuisine. Perhaps most important to the discriminating connoisseur of Argentine food is the high quality selection of meats offered at La Virundela. This is a point of great pride to us because we insist on only the highest grade of meat available. Fortunately for La Virundela's customers, however, this insistence on high quality ingredients does not translate into very expensive entrees. This uncommon combination of quality and affordability has made all of the difference at La Virundela, and we are smart enough to know that this is the reason for the regularly returning customers. VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE !!! We don´t have service for BABIES or CHILDREN UNDER 8 (eight) YEARS OLD because we don´t have chairs for them, not any special menu, neither any special area or trainned personnel to take care of them.

We had dinner in La Virundela last night, and it was superb from beginning to end. We started with a caprese salad to share, which was full of flavor and the tomato organic. We each had the ribeye, medium and medium rare, both of which were cooked perfectly. Seasoned just right, and a very high quality of meat, it was... More

La Virundela should be ranked #1 for overall dining experience. Our steaks were grilled over mesquite coals and cooked to perfection. The setting was beautiful, warm and relaxing. Our waiter could not have been more attentive. The owner himself gave us a tour of their kitchen and Argentina mesquite oven/grill. They bake their bread and make special pizzas on Sat... More

La Virundela This San Miguel restaurant won't disappoint. I reccomend the Salad for two and a grilled ribeye with a side of the grilled vegetables. The ribeye comes with crisp, salted fries, for a perfect steak frites meal. Ask the owner , Richard to walk you around back and show you his authentic Argentine Grill. The mesquite coals are made on... More

This experience was top notch..The provencal fries were especially tasty... We felt the atmosphere and attentive service were special - the fabulous chandeliers and art work create a wonderful decor for an extended relaxed meal. The steak was done as I like and the desserts were delicious.

We wanted to eat here after reading the reviews. Overall the food was good. The Argentinian salad was very good. The salad was fresh and large enough to share. The steaks were good, particularly with the chimchurri sauce. The meats were flavorful and tender and came with fries. The atmosphere was nice, as we sat in the open air courtyard.... More

The steak was not top quality as they claim, the service was average at best... which means it's very expensive for what you get. I've been to better argentine restaurants than this... and if you compare it to what you get in Argentina, well it's not even close!! The decor was nice mind you...

We both had the Argentine mixed salad and the rib eye steak. Both were delicious and the steak was nice and tender. Also, the restaurant is quiet so you could hear each other talk. The host and staff were most hospitable and attentive. We expect to return often. Daren and Mira

We went in mid-evening looking for a bite after snacking and cocktails in the afternoon. We asked the owner to select for us. We had 8 empanadas, 3 rib eyes, 2 orders of ribs, 2 grilled veggie platters, and 2 mixed salads to serve 8 people. They sliced up the steaks, mixed the ribs into the platters, and put out... More

You can't get a more Argentinian restaurant than one that is owned and run by an Argentinian. The food is superb quality and cooked to perfection. We had the blood sausage, rib eye and sweetbreads complemented by the excellent own label Malbec imported from where else.

We ate here twice during our stay in SMdA and loved it both times. Housed in a beautiful space on Hernandez Macias, we sat in the restaurant's beautiful courtyard. It had rained a bit on the second visit which only enhanced the ambiance. The waiter and owner were very attentive to our needs even cutting a steak for my daughters.... More
