Loved the Salmon and the salad (oh so fresh!). The atmosphere was like a quite oasis in a courtyard. Great service! I can't stress that enough!!! The staff was endearing. Loved it!

We had our best dinner in San Miguel in the pretty courtyard of this restaurant. The empanadas for starters were amazing. I had the Halibut with couscous prepared with fresh ginger root. Delicious. They have a great looking menu for meat lovers, too. The owner and wait staff were so friendly and attentive.

A excellent place to enjoy Uruguayan beef with style and away from the bustle of downtown. A very homely, very quit restaurant. If you're a meat lover this restaurant is highly recommended. There are also options in chicken and pasta.

Researched the top three Argentinian restaurants in SMA via Internet and decided to try this one. Staff is very friendly and helpful and tries hard to please but the results weren't there. Very unimaginative furnishings and decorations feel almost cafeteria-like. My butcher steak, although tasty, was on the tough side. My wife tried the rib-eye which was very thin and... More

We visited three Argentinean restaurants in San Miguel - Garufa (very good) Bistro Buenos Aires (outstanding) and Virundela. I wish I could say something good about the food. Waiter and owner were pleasant enough but the stuff coming out of the kitchen was inedible. Empanadas were cold inside (some frying had not yet thawed frozen pies), argentinean chorizo was served... I found this restaurant through OpenTable since all the first square restaurants were packed with tourists and decided to give it a try. The place is small and charmy. The food is very good and the chef was attentive to our needs and preferences. The pasta was excellent. Meat quality was good too. The wine list offers a nice arrange... More

For the last decade or so Argentinian restaurants have shown up in Mexico La Virundela is one that until a couple of nights ago we had missed in San Miguel. That was a huge oversight. Like many other restaurants of this genre - their specialty is beef. They have a limited set of choices. But don't skip by the appetizers... More

First and foremost, this is an Argentine place. It's slow food. I don't think travelers always recognize that correlation. Second, Laila is great. And she is clearly trying to get this lovely place with a great garden seating area going! That said, there's still some work to be done. Mostly, the service people are young & inexperienced. And bored teenagers... More

From the moment I walked into La Virundela, I fell in love with the place - the beautiful courtyard with orange trees, the hearth in the dining room, everything - just lovely! The new owner and champion of friendly service, Laila, meets every request with a smile and warm sincerity that is increasingly rare in the restaurant business today -... More
