Description: THE RESTAURANT, housed in one of San Miguel’s most elegantly colonial settings at Sollano 16, opened in February 2008 featuring Chef Donnie Masterton’s world class cuisine. It is located just steps away from the main square of San Miguel de Allende, the prettiest and most restored/written-about Colonial city in all of Mexico. Offering a full bar, it serves lunch and dinner five days a week in a sun-dappled eighteen century Moroccan courtyard, as well as in their elegant dining salon.Serving global comfort good, THE RESTAURANT’s menu reflects the changing seasons with a focus on the simplicity of fine ingredients. The Chef collaborates with local organic growers, dairy farmers and ranchers to procure the freshest, highest quality and responsibly raised product available. Catering to today’s more experienced, adventurous and health conscious diners, The Restaurant will emphasize quality in food and customer service…as well as a more involved relationship with respect to our food and the land it comes from.

After a long walk in the streets of San Miguel de Allende, we stopped at The Restaurant for lunch. It was the best culinary experience in Mexico! We ordered twice the chicken tandoori tacos that was delicious!! The chicken was heavenly tender soaked with an amazing minted yoghurt sauce..

The prix fixe menu and wine pairings were superb. The dishes were inventive, perfectly executed and progressed from the light and delightful scallop crudo with poppy seeds and sriracha buttermilk sauce to the hearty roasted rack of lamb, topped off with a warm croissant bread pudding with Mayan bittersweet chocolate ice cream and ancho chile liquor-crème anglaise, and the wines... We had rabbit tostadas and the duck egg rolls. They were excellent and we went back for burgers the next night. Also very good. We have since tried a number of different menu items all of which turned out to be very good. I recommend this restaurant but it is on th expensive side.

Dinner was fair. Meat, in particular was over cooked. Tuna tartare wasn't bad. But food doesn't live up to its Reputation.

The restaurant is really quite wonderful. The food is delicious. The staff was knowledgable about Mexican wine, which is surprisingly good. The ambience is great. It is pricey, especially for SMA, but not unreasonably so. My only really quibble is that the experience is one that you could get at an excellent restaurant in any big city (save for the... More

Once again, we vacationed in SMA and we made The Restaurant a stop on our dinning schedule. We dined here 3X this trip over the span of 2 weeks. We made Burger Night, which has historically been on Thursday's and it was terrific. I had the Hipper burger, which is mainly a mix of different vegetables with a yogurt sauce--fantastic.... More

This place was incredible. I had the fish and asparagus, which was as good as I've ever had. The service was amazing, and we were treated like royalty. Met the chef/owner who is an American ex-patriot, and I after spending time in San Miguel, I can see why he hasn't been back to the U.S.

Nice continental menu and great service. The short ribs were quite tasty. The cocktail menu offers a mixture called The Oaxaxalaca...loved it!
