The signature dish, Chile Relleno Nogada, was, in a word, mediocre. The poblano chile was tough and under cooked and the filling was unremarkable. Worst was the margarita, clearly poured with commercial lime juice from a bottle. I've had better, pretty much everywhere. The ambience is banal courtyard. If not for this restaurants reputation I would have given it one star,... More

The salads were incredible at this restaurant along with Chiles en Nogada not to mention the courtyard setting. A great dining experience!

The original location and the second location both had such a nice feeling and atmosphere. For me, the new location has no charm, no warmth, so sadly I will not be going back. I assume the food is still good, but did not stay, so can't really say.

While in Mexico, we wanted to try authentic Mexican food. Our friends recommended this restaurant specifically to try the chile relanos. We all tried different variations that were offered on the menu and they were all delicious. For appetizers, the guacamole was fresh, the bean soup was perfect, the salsa spicy and yummy. The only thing we Americans didn't like... More

The food here was pretty good and they had some nice house specialties. We particularly liked the salads they prepared with interesting and fresh ingredients.

First time at this restaurant was many years ago....it was located right across from the Jardin at that time. I had the chilies en nodaga and fell in love with dish. Fast forward many years, visited again San Miguel de Allende and absolutely needed to get those chilies again. Found that Bugambillia had moved to Mesones, a few blocks from... More

Someone had recommended this restaurant for chiles rellenos, so we tried it. The chile relleno de frijoles was quite good, but the chile relleno con manzanas was a little disappointing. They had substituted chicken for the beef in the recipe because we do not eat red meat, but it did not work out too well. However, when we mentioned that... More

My first visit to this restaurant 7 years ago was a lot better. It was located in another part of town, and seemed to be much more lively. I'm not sure what happened, but the old location was always packed, and the new one seemed dead the night we were there. The food was okay, but nothing special. The real... More

The service was great. The atmosphere so inviting, classy and just beautiful. We relaxed as long as we wanted to. The food was a treat. I particularly loved the presentation of the guacamole. This place can be a special occasion restaurant for anyone who is visiting San Miguel. We took my boyfriend's mother here for her birthday and we all... More

Last night was my birthday, and my husband and I went to Bugumbilia to celebrate. The food was delicious, the atmosphere romantic, the Margaritas superb and the strolling mariachis entertaining (but not pushy like some). What made our experience particularly pleasing was that Candelaria, the sweet little lady who has worked there forever, took an interest in our table. We... More
