Authentic flavours

Enjoyed kreek salad, tsatsiki and veal "stamna". Huge portion, authentic flavours and friendly staff. Cold wind from mediterreanian was not nice, even though there were plastic curtains which were ment to hold wind out fron customer seats.

We went to this restaurant no less than three days in a row. The first two days the food was extremely good and the third it was good. The staff are friendly without being "overwhelming".

Despite the calendar, our December visit to Agios Nikolaos was delightful and this restaurant a highlight of the town. We started with a mezze selection of spinach-like greens, grilled potatoes and calamari – all liberally doused with a bright olive oil. Two large fish were brought to our table, first uncooked so we could appreciate their freshness, and then moments... More

We stumbled across this gem accidentally when the town had closed for the winter. The quality of meat was at a level never seen before, the owner/chef/cook was a old fella and so friendly, he kept giving free food. The chicken falls apart in your mouth. A definite go to place for incredible quality meat.

It was our first evening in Ag Nik and it was a real adventure to find this restaurant! We walked in total darkness on a footpath near the sea, so all the better when we smelled the BBQ! The owner is a real gem and after we chose our fish and seafood he just worked a miracle. The staff was... More

We ocupated the second table - the rest were free, but the fish was really delicious (Dorado) and lamb was great! Strongly recommend this family restorant, and with them wealthy and good lack!

It's not unusual to be given a free treat at a Greek restaurant, but at Faros we almost wanted to say NO MORE PLEASE. A jacket potato each with the starters, a plate of melon and grapes, cheese pasties covered in honey and a little jug of raki. When you have already eaten a hearty meal it can be over... More

This restaurant on the beach-front was highly recommended and very busy, but we were quite disappointed in the quality of the food. Service was unfortunately a bit of an afterthought and we had out cutlery virtually thrown at us as the waiter was turning round to see where to accommodate more people who had just turned up!

We have been visiting the Faros fish restaurant for 15 years and never had a bad meal. The restaurant is run by Aris who still continues to cook his fish and meat on the barbeque, giving it a unique flavour. Aris's wife serves her own baklava too. The restaurant is set right by the sea making it a lovely romantic... More

On recommendation of our hotel owner, we tried Faros on our first night in Agio Nikolaos. My husband ordered the sardines and absolutely raved about them! I had briam (cooked vegetables) and they were fine. A pleasant surprise was being given two large baked potatoes which were excellent. At the end of the meal, we received raki, fruit and pastry...
