.The Barge Inn. near Alton Barnes is a nice place to enjoy a lunch by the Kennett & Avon Canal. This is crop circle territory and many fine examples are illustrated on photos and murals on the walls of the pub interior. I had an excellent beer-soaked battered cod, chips, salad, tartare sauce and beans for £8. Access to the... More

I have visited this place on several occasions, but not for 15 years or so, until last week (July 2015). It looked exactly the same. The Crop Circle room seemed to be smaller though - but that could be memory. There was still upto date information about any recent crop circles. And after our lunch we went off in search... More

I have been to the Barge Inn many times, but a long time ago. Last previous visit was about 15 years ago. We camped there and had a fabulous evening chatting to loads of different people - some with some very amusing and interesting tales to tell. I went back in the middle of July 2015 - and it is... Picturesque place for a lunch stop right next to the Kennett and Avon canal with plenty of outdoor seating in the garden. Good range of ciders and ales brewed locally with some added twists such as Alien Bitter. Good selection of menu items something for everyone in our party of nine and room for baby too. Laid back and friendly.

the camp site is fairly basic, consisting of two camping fields, not that that's a criticism. The field are well kept and very flat, there wasn't a long list of rules to stick to a nice common sense approach made a refreshing change to camping. We didn't eat in the pub but the food looked nice. There was live band... More

We ate here whilst on a narrowboat holiday. Many of the ciders have strange names and are of the kind that look innocuous but which stop your legs working. Food is good, plenty of it. Ideal for boaters because you can moor up 20 feet from the door. What's not to like?

Pub was really relaxed about children and dog and had a good atmosphere. Menu was fairly limited but the food was really good. Excellent location next to the canal and crop circle stuff really interesting.

Stayed over a weekend, campsite was really busy and full of people having a good time and playing music. Food pretty good, the tagine was lovely! Bar staff were happy and friendly as was the whole campsite. A band played on Saturday night so the pub was really busy and kept running out of glasses but this did not detract... More

We fancied a local weekend away so we took Charlie the Chausson our motor home to see what all the crop circle fuss was about at The Barge Inn Honey street Nr Pewsey . I've never met such a bunch of weirdo's in my life and I come from the forest !...But all we met were friendly and It was... More
