We've just returned home for a weeks stay in Achill Island. Luckily enough we spotted this little gem. Everything was top class, tasty and well presented. We ate here 3 evenings over the week. The only quam I have is the difference between meals, and portion size on Friday 4th of July compared to Thursday 3rd of July. Thursdays chef... More

Very comfortable pub & cafė on the Western fringe of Dooagh. Excellent selection of fresh local food & drink prepared to very high standards. Food can be served outside in good weather. Lovely staff, generous portions & great value. There is regular entertainment satellite tv here also.

Stopped off at Gieltys after a scenic drive to Ceem beach in Achill for some dinner. 3 children were starving. Lovely, enthusiastic waiting staff took our orders quickly and children's food arrived first and without delay which mean't adults could throughly enjoy their dinners of steak (delicious) and a fabulously tasty Thai green curry. Portions are generous but if you... More

Spent a few days in Achill recently, and a local recommended here. I got an amazing seafood chowder, and my fiance ordered a fresh salad. The steak main was great too, it had a brilliant pepper sauce. The staff were excellent and friendly, with some free fruit given to the kids at the next table. Will definitely be returning here... Six of us were recommended this place while on a cycling tour in Mayo. Cold and famished on a chilly June evening, we got great home cooked food and a friendly welcome from Gieltys staff. We all had the excellent seafood gratin (we had bonded well on our trip). This almost cleared out the kitchen of this dish. In fact... More

My friends and I found this pub on our return from a visit to Keem bay. What a beautiful beach with stunning views. We had one of the best pints of Guinness of the weekend in Gieltys and we enjoyed talking to the bar man who was very friendly and helpful.they also served bar food but we had already eaten... More

Pub where you can stop for a Smithwicks front a beautiful view of the sea. You can also eat a scone with jam and cream...excellent. Take the good advice of the manager and start again your trip.

We arrived back from our walk around Keem Bay cold and hungry. Gielty's had been recommended to us by Roisin at Teach Cruachan B&B. We were a group of six with two young men with big appetites only to be told the kitchen had already closed. We resigned ourselves to going hungry and ordered drinks, crisps and nuts before heading... More

Very comfortable seating, good food and drink and a great owner. Alan saved us from a hungry evening when everything else was closed. Thanks a lot Alan.
