Fun with locals

We had an enjoyable evening here one blustery night in November. In addition to a delicious meal (great chowder and fish n chips) the young bartender was sweet and good natured when the old timers gave him a hard time while I was instructing him to make a bourbon old fashioned! Or as close to one... read more

Stopped here last week 21/10/2015 , middle of wet & foggy day when touring lovely Achill for our 1st time (will defnitely return). Went to Gielty's cafe for coffee & dessert and we were not disappointed with either! Lovely large cups of coffee with homemade fruit pie and a most pleasant local waitress. Will defnitely return to Achill & Gielty's,... More

Had dinner here last night. The owner was so welcoming and couldnt of accomodated us anymore. He also drives you back to your accomodation so you can drink and enjoy your evening. Food was lovely!

We stopped here for an impromptu meal after a cold dip I'm the Atlantic! We received a very warm welcome and despite it being very busy due to a competition, live music and national film crew presence we were seated quickly. We were required to move due to the activities but this was done quickly and with apologies and compensation... More

Best place to eat on Achill Island this summer. Great meals in the evenings and we also called in afternoons for coffee and cakes. Much better value than the Beehive(which was very stressy and the lady was shouting behind the counter). Really chilled out and dog friendly place. Beautiful views whilst you eat.

My husband and I are just back from a two week holiday on Achill Island. The restaurant we always eat in during all our holidays on the island is now converted into a gift shop. We had previously had breakfast in Gieltys a few times. Gieltys is a really nice establishment, spotlessly clean with a very friendly helpful staff. My... More
