Great local flavor food

We ate here twice, my favorite was the Chilaquiles, have not tasted anything like it before. It is located at the south end (west side) of the tourist part of town.

So we were at the Tulum ruins and asked our friendly guide, "If we were to get real, authentic Mayan food, where do you go?" She said Dona Tina. This place is all the way through the town of Tulum (taxi) It's not a tourist trap. I got what amounted to all the dark meat of a full chicken, bathed... More

Doña Tina (Don-ya Teena) is located on the high street heading out of town. The decore is not too flash but the food is honest and fairly good value for money -(main & beer for approx $10USD). Easy to miss so look for the Subway on the opposite side of the road.

Service very slow, I had to get up from the table to look for the waitress, food not very good for the price.

Almost all the restaurants in Tulum are a great value especially compared with the beach ones. Dona Tina has been here for years and you can get a great breakfast, lunch or dinner for cheap and the food is what the local folks eat. We have been eating here for years. Tired of the fancy places, come here for some... More

We had dinner here and tried the special which was a chicken dish served with rice and beans. It was okay, but the chicken was tender and moist. My husband had the chicken soup - again, okay, but difficult to eat because the chicken is still on the bone! The place was packed with several local kids from a karate... More

We've been to Dona Tina twice, once three years ago and last month on a return trip to Tulum. You have to work to find it, but it's a wonderful place. Both times we were there we were the only diners. The food is fresh and delicious and it has an unhurried, casual atmosphere that I just love.

I stumbled upon Dona Tina at lunchtime with a friend and we could tell this was a place the locals go to. Just the kind of place we like. We had the guacamole and shared the mole chicken. It was the best mole I ever had and a meal I will always remember. We returned for a second time. For... More

Consistently good local food. Dona Tina's is just good down home tasty. Try the soup and the flan but anything on the menu is good.
