The selection and food was really nice, as well as the service. We had the coconut fish, which was some of the best fish I've had, as well as the pork, which was also good. The drinks and desserts were also excellent.

Altarmar has always been a staple in Tulum town for as long as I've been here. I see there haven't been reviews since December and there is a reason....(drumroll)....great news - they have since relocated and are now the official restaurant at El Pez, a wonderful spot right at the beginning of Tulum's south beach. Their new menu is full... More

My husband and I eloped here in Tulum. We had our ceremony at El Pez (guests there as well) and had a romantic dinner by ourselves out on the veranda. The filet mignon and dessert were both good but the ceviche was definitely a stand-out. Don't know if the usually serve it like this, but (as you can see in... More

Altamar was a good restaurant, when they were in Tulum village. Now they moved to the beach, are more expensive, have a better view- and cook better! I tried the Octopus, that was soft and crispy- unbelievable! If you are ready to pay more for good food- try Altamar( in Hotel Pez)

Last week i went with my girlfriend to Altamar, and was really but really AMAZING. Everything, from the food to the people that work there, everything was espectacular. I highly recommend The Ceviche Trilogy, and the Octopus in Chili Guajillo. The only detail that i must say is that now they moved, they are no longer in town. Now Altamar... More

We enjoyed a four plus hour cooking class at Altamar and enjoyed sampling the appetizers, lunch and margaritas the chefs were making for us. Best sauces and yucatecan food we had on our entire trip.

Tried various places in Tulum town when we there and although we were the the only people in the place, being low season. A bit lacking in atmosphere. But I have to say we were impressed with the quality and taste of the food. I would say one of the best restaurants in Tulum. Go there.

AMAZING!!! Went here based on the reviews from TA and was not disappointed. This place is in town just on the corner of the main street, in a nice quiet location. When we first arrived we were bought out a tasting plate on the house with dips and salsas and various foods such as cactus. It was great and even... More

Please ignore the snobbish reviews! This restaurant is amazing! Freshly caught and cooked seafood, great wine, an ok veggie selection and wonderful, warm service. This is where the local hoteliers eat, that says it all! Love this place :) also, atmospheric lighting not dark at all!
