Oh my god the fish tacos are to die for! I went here 3 times in 1 week. Either fried or grilled fish is just as good. The brown sauce that goes on the tacos is life changing. An absolute must when in Tulum. Beware at night, there are a lot of mosquitos in the restaurants vicinity, make sure to... More

We stopped in at Mateo's and had dinner and drinks. We had fish tacos an they were really well done. The beer was cold and refreshing. We really enjoyed sitting in front of the roadway and seeing all the people coming and going. The staff does a great job making you feel welcome and I felt that although the food... More

Mateo's is a must when you are in Tulum. They have great food, an awesome atmosphere, and good specials. 2 for 1 drinks from 4-6, and yummy food to go with it. They have a wide assortment of different types of food throughout the day, and all of it is tasty and filling. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and... More

Mateo's for the best fish tacos in the world. The fish and shrimp tacos are to die for, but so is the chips and salsa. My boyfriend and I found this place as we walked along the 109 (hotel zone) and very glad we stopped there for a late lunch. Great food and atmosphere and wonderful waitstaff. If you are... More

Had the fish tacos and coconut shrimp, both really good. Enjoyed the environment, and it was conveniently right across the road from our wonderful hotel, Piedra Escondida.

The sign outside says "best fish tacos in the world", and they really are top notch; the best we had while in Tulum. Mateo's also has excellent icy cold fresh juices, and a really cool 3 story back deck where the view is amazing. It's incredibly easy to find, and worth a stop.

Guacamole is great and so were fish tacos. Fun place to sit and watch the people go by. Margaritas are good so long as you upgrade to better tequila.

Husband and I stopped for lunch again while spending some vacation time at the beautiful beach in Tulum. Nachos, pico de gallo and salsa were all good. Ordered cerviche and a quesidilla - neither disappointed. The service however was not as good as we had previously experienced, but not bad enough to cross Mateo's of our places we love to... More

Great food, and plenty of space to kick it with a few friends and some drinks after your meal. Check out the sunset lounge 4 stories above the restaurant.
