This place was not only convenient to where we were staying but made me break my golden rule of travel not to eat at the same place twice. They boat the best fish tacos on earth and do not disappoint! Our 1st visit we got the Mexican tasting plate! Everything on it was amazing and got us back in a... More

Every time we travel to La Riviera Maya, no matter how far away we are from Tulum, we always do a pit stop at Mateo's, for the fish tacos! They are simple the best!!!

A so called Mexican Grill, this restaurant is more an American Grill with a Mexican touch. We ordered the fish tacos, a hamburger, the fish bites, a chicken burrito and guacamole. The fish is fresh so that was good, but the salsas are just mediocre. They have a tamarind sauce that is quite bad and extremely sweet. The food is... More

Great food and great atmosphere. Live music which seems to always have people enjoying themselves. This place seemed to have attracted the most people which I recommend.

My favorite about Mateo's is the variety of natural juices, smoothies, and fruit waters. The Chaya with Pina and lemon is a great refresher for a hot summer day in Tulum! Service is very good. Food is always very good. Today, in-between business meetings, we ate the fish tacos and ceviche. Both were very good. Tacos excellent! Ceviche was very... More

We ate at Mateo's twice while in Tulum...it was nice to have a low key, reasonably priced meal on the beach strip - most restaurants are pretty pricey. This quaint outdoor restaurant served awesome food, and fantastic drinks. The 2 for 1 specials in the afternoon (drinks) are so good and worthwhile. It's also got a nice covered patio, so... More
