Great choice!

It's a cool place! The food is delicious! We have tried burrito, great. Mix ceviche, yummy! Salsa and chips, perfect with a cold beer or a marguerita. And they offer two for one happy hour from 5-7! The service is very kind and you don't have to wait too much to have your meal. They have a special... read more

There are many places in Tulum which claim to have the "Best fish tacos" but this one really is #1. We ate here twice and recommended it to anyone we bumped into. The smoothies and taco salad were also delicious. The staff are friendly and the service we received was excellent. Would definitely eat here again. M500 for two.

After a sickening beach taco yesterday this place delivered solidly tacos after a day of biking tulum, one star removed for a decidedly room temperature cold coconut

We ate at Mateo's twice during our four day stay in Tulum. Complimentary salsa (spicy!), friendly staff, and great fish tacos! I will say I got a regular margarita the first time and personally did not like it, but had a frozen mango margarita that was great the second. Also a good selection of local beer. One of the nights... More

My husband and I love tacos. Love. We had planned on visiting Mateos a lot sooner in our trip, as we had read the good reviews, but didn't make it here till the last day. My husband ordered the fried fish tacos and I, the grilled. Both were excellent! The atmosphere is very laid back and chill. The only down... More

We ate at Mateos 3 times, partly because it was close to our resort. But we enjoyed it thoroughly. The waitstaff was so friendly and attentive, drinks were excellent (try the strawberry basil monitor and the locally brewed Akamul beer). Our last nite we went up to their upper level and had just drinks and their combination appetizer platter. It... More

Mateo's was recommended to me, but the person who recommended it obviously likes the atmosphere and not the food. The food was mediocre, it's really a better place to take in a sporting event on TV and a cold beer. Not worth the price, and service was also slow. The restaurant and bar were not crowded when I was there... More

Nicely built, surprisingly big (remember to check upstairs too -hammock deck etc.), athmospheric place with good food, excellent coffee and friendly service. Live music was played by a very swinging, funky band which got people dancing. This is the nicest (liveliest) place to spend an evening in Tulum.

If you are in this part of Tulum not a bad place to stop for tacos and a cold beer. Not the best tacos we had in Tulum ( those were on the beach at BeTulum) - but not bad -- plenty of chips and guac - with plenty of beer choices. We ordered the fish tacos -- fish was... More
