There is a sign asserting "Best fish tacos in the world" at the entrance of the restaurant. I was doubtful but after tasting them it was absolutely true! Lots of other great stuff on the menu too and lots of vegetarian options. Have to admit after our first meal at Mateo's we didn't venture to eat anywhere else. Warm, spacious,... More

The best fish tacos on the planet is a bit of a dubious claim. They're good, but not epic. The chili sauces and salsas are great. One in particular may be one of the best chili sauces I've ever had. The guacamole is buttery and has a great flavor. Nice vibe, but the big-screen TV streaming NFL games completely kills... More

They are the best fish tacos on the planet! Trust me... I've tried a lot of fish tacos in a lot of places. They are served with 3 different kinds of sauces, not that they need them... but really good. We met Mateo while we were there. This guy is an absolute perfectionist about everything to do with his restaurant,... More

If you find yourself in Tulum you must make a stop in this wonderful restaurant. For breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour and everything in between Mateo's delivers. Delicious food, beautiful setting and the most amazing staff make your eating experience feel like you have found a home away from home. There is a viewing deck on the 3rd floor that... More

Mateos is a very cool open air restaurant/bar across the road from the beach in Tulum. Their tag line is "best fish tacos on the planet" and they don't disappoint. Whether you're there foe a smoothie and fish tacos for lunch, to watch the sunset from their 2nd story western-facing deck (the only one in Tulum) or for dinner and... More

Great atmosphere, and good service. The food was amazing as were the Margaritas, they went down very easily! We went there for lunch and ended up eating so much food we didn't eat again till breakfast the next day. Delish!

Great place to stop and grab a decent meal, we ate here for lunch and the Fish Tacos were great. Nice atmosphere, staff were friendly enough, was a little overpriced for my liking but the food was good so evened out!

Mateo's means what they say, tacos are great so are the fajitas and just about everything elso on the menu. Best prices for a restaurant on the beach. They have a margarita deck where you can enjoy a drink sitting up three story's in the trees.

Good lunch spot. Near the beach. Fish taco was excellent! Selection of Mexican craft beers is as good as it gets in Mexico!
