I was just in Tulum for vacation and heard that Mateo's was a great spot to go for fish tacos and live music. The atmosphere and live music were excellent, but the food was pretty poor. The cocktails were too sweet, the guacamole did not taste fresh (I suspect fillers), and the fish tacos were pretty poor. I recommend going... More

We had the absolute best time at Mateo's. We went here on a normal night for drinks and it was very lively and fun. Each waiter we met was awesome and very kind. We watched the NFL playoffs games here another day and we could not have had more fun. There was a huge turnout for the game which made... More

that we went everyday with the exception of one during our time in Tulum. From the food to the drinks to the staff everything was perfecta! The treehouse feel of the place was an added bonus and made us feel a little better about spending most of our first day hanging there drinking at the bar ;) The only complaint... More

We went to this restaurant for dinner, upon recommendation. The place was very dark (ambiance?) and rather breezy for a winter evening. Fortunately I have a flashlight on my phone so we used it to read the menu, and also while eating, so we could see the food. We also kept our coats on. I admit that the salad I... More

Great food, excellent service, good prices! I recommend the carne asada. It is loud in there. There was a live band next door adding to the noise. There is a big screen tv with ESPN which is not easy to find in Tulum. Cash only!

The tacos were amazing as advertised and the spinach salad with goat cheese, apples & strawberries with honey mustard dressing was delicious too!

I usually don't believe a restaurant when it advertises it has the "best" of anything, but I have to agree that Mateo's has the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. They were amazing. The fish was done perfectly and all of the different sauces and salsas they bring to the table makes each bite unique. We ate here for... More

Great spot on the jungle side of the road for drinks and food. The atmosphere is very laid back - bartenders super nice. We only had chips and salsa (which turned out to be complementary) while we were there watching NFL football on their big screen TV's. Fun day
