El Camello has a handful of reliably good seafood dishes and is one of the places to go for food when the decision of where to dine is to be lazily avoided. Atmosphere is that of a local favorite rather than contrived tourism chic. Mexican music videos are on the TV's on the wall. Favorites are ceviche (larger than you... More

We had heard that El Camello has excellent ceviche, but ended up being disappointed. The food was certainly far from bad - but it didn't live up to our expectations. As El Camello was a bit more expensive than other places we had been to which served better ceviche, it was an average experience.

We enjoyed eating in El camello in Tulum. It specializes in ceviche and all the fish and seafood is extremely fresh. We had ceviche mixto (a bit of everything from octopus to shrimp to fish) that was delicious and we loved the two salsas that we received with the chips: one had bits of shredded, cooked fish in it and... I've been here a few times. On my first trip to Tulum I ate at Camello 3 days in a row, trying a different plate of ceviche on each visit. Now, I go for the mixed. And the whole fried fish, or the fish tacos. Actually, I like everything. The atmosphere is legit, locals and tourists alike vie for tables,... More

I've been there on multiple occasions when visiting Yucatan, and the food has been great every time. This place is an absolute must when you visit Tulum - but be prepared to wait in line to get seated as this place is popular, not least with the locals! Their ceviche is amazing - go for the mixto, and you will... More

Wife and I went here a second time. They have really improved the decor since last year (2013). The food was still spectacular. Ceviche, shrimp, fish, and great beer. This place has an excellent value and top-notch taste, Just make sure to keep in mind that it is closed on Wednesdays.

If you are in Tulum you MUST go to El Camello Jr.! It is not far from the hotels by car around 10 min from our cabana bedroom. That restaurant was the best place we have been in our trip. Because it's good and cheap! If you a seafood lover like us you shouldn't miss it! Very delicious ceviche, coquetel,... More

This restaurant offers the best ceviche I ever tasted. Big portion and reasonable price. It is located a bit off from Tulum's touristic center but it definetly worths a visit.

This place has grown from a tiny hole in the wall, to being a real restaurant. Locals call it camellito, diminutive of its name out of love. Ceviche has good big portions and its always fresh. Pair it up with a ojo rojo (beer with tomato juice and lemon...a yucatec beer bloody mary) and you will be ready for a... More

This was one of the first restaurants recommended to us when we arrived in Tulum. We didn't actually get a chance to go until our second to last day there but it turned out to be so good, we went back on our last day as well! Both times we got the mixed ceviche which was perfect in the heat... More
