Ate here last night, grilled lobster, didn't even taste like lobster! Very dry, we then asked for butter to dip in, what they brought wasn't butter.

El Captian was recommended to us by a local and we can't emphasize enough how great it was. Combination of great mexican and seafood. When in tulum, what more could you want. Ceviche was excellent and the shrimp fajitas were out of this world. Plus out waiter was awesome, the drinks were strong and the prices were reasonable. If you... More

we had excellent fried shrimp tacos, with an excellent garlic mayo type sauce and also guacamole, fajitas, and sodas. The service was excellent, the prices were reasonable, the location was nice on the corner, facing the Avenida Tulum and our table was in the service lane part of the street and the street was partially closed for the Day of... Affordable, tasty, large portions, delicious garlic sauce and super friendly staff. The owners are very welcoming and there is always laughter. The expansion of the restaurant gives the opportunity to eat in the garden, where we were seated at a table with our large group of people. Besides fresh fish, there is also meat or chicken on the menu, and... More

There is nothing fancy about the restaurant but the food and service are outstanding at shockingly reasonable prices. The lobster was exceptional.

I loved El Capitan. The drinks are strong and inexpensive, the food is good, the service makes you feel like you are at home. The grilled fish al mojo de ajo was amazing as well as the El Capitan Ceviche. I loved sitting outside sipping on a margarita while grazing on their great chips and salsa.

Ate here a couple of times. Nice fresh seafood. Reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and very hard working. Oysters were a but watery but otherwise good.

We had a great lunch here. A couple of Modelo's and some ceviche with coconut milk, papaya, pineapple, mango in addition to the usual fresh seafood was superb. The portions are very large. It was looking like rain so we sat in the back patio where we could relax and sit it out. The service was friendly and helpful. The... More

Eating at El Capitan has become one of our favorite, regular activities when we visit Tulum (at least once a year.) The food is absolutely fresh and delicious. The service is super friendly. It has a real neighborhood feel to it. I'm partial to the sopa de marisco and sopa de pescado; my husband loves the fish tacos, and we... More
