Very reliable seafood and tasty meals. location on Boca Paila

We have eaten at the downtown location many times and were looking forward to the new location on Boca Paila next to Villas Sian Kaan(?). Much larger restaurant and with a sitdown bar area but the same food to enjoy. Ceviche, Tacos Pirata, grilled fish all good. I noticed a lot of families with... read more

Went here as recommended by a number of locals for the fresh fish! The fish tacos were great. They also have a a place that is on the beach road near the big supermarket. But we went into the one in the centre of the town.

Stopped in for ceviche on a recommendation and loved the place! The staff are always fun and friendly - everyone seems to speak at least some English so it is easy to communicate. The drinks are great and we really like the ceviche (El Capitan style with cooked onions is excellent!) and beef fajitas. With the seaweed being such a... More

We had dinner at El Capitan three times in a row when staying in Tulum so that alone shows we liked the place. Service was really nice and friendly and although the place doesn't look fantastic, it's worth going there, unlike to many restaurants on the seaside (this one is in Tulum pueblo). We had ceviche three times and loved... More

Great food and a lot of it. Beer is reasonable. Exchange rate was a bit low, 12p/1USD. Best to have pesos before you go.

The ceviche was very good...we tried both types of mixto on two stops and the El capitan version (with grilled onions) was our preferred. The portion was huge and the price was good. The pirate tacos were very good as well. The grilled octopus with chilis and garlic was a bit over done and chewy. Definitely worth another stop.

I stopped here for lunch while visiting the Maya ruins at Tulum. Since I was uncertain about the restaurant and the quality of their food, I ordered shrimp tacos and a lemonade. The restaurant was almost empty so the service was good and the food arrived in a short time. The tacos were Ok but nothing to rave about. The... More

This winter they opened another restaurant on the beach road. Same great food, service and friendly atmosphere. All the prices are fair for Tulum

Stopped here for lunch after a long bike ride exploring the area. Exactly what we were looking for... Great Mexican food, great portions at a great price!

We'd read that El Capitan had the best fish tacos in Tulum so went here specially to get some takeout fish tacos. And they were pretty good, although not on the same level as the exceptional fish tacos we'd had a couple of days earlier at Turtle Bay Cafe in Akumal.
