Great restaurant in Tulum

Dani and Santi are two Argentinians who took over the restaurant that is part of Nuevas Vidas hotel. It is on the jungle side of the street. They have created an open fire grill and have several cuts of Argentine beef, fish, chicken as well as wonderful salads and side dishes.-must have the grilled... read more

The first night, we came at 7:30 and were told it was a one hour twenty minute wait, so we went away and came back the next night. So glad we did. No reservations for this restaurant and cash only. $220 American for meal for four including drinks, appetizers and desserts. Lovely atmosphere with lanterns, no bugs, open kitchen, delicious... This is a place that's great to go if you're sick of fish. They have lots of red meat on the menu and everything was quite good. The ambiance was very sexy. The steaks weren't up to the standards of most higher end US steak establishments, but you're not in the U.S. after all...

We had to wait 45 minutes on a Wednesday night, but it was worth it. We had the steak, which was delicious.

It was so bad and expensive that we left. Never have I seen more pretentious and unfriendly staff. Being in Mexico where everyone is amazingly warm and easy going this places is hell. You pay for a drink what in another place you pay for a main dish. RIDICULOUS!

Just go. Sit down. Order the octopus salad. Then a steak. And your life will never be the same. Tip: get there early and expect a bit of a wait. But well-worth it!

The ambiance is great here, but the service was slow and its real expensive. Also, as with most restaurants in this area, its cash only.

Everything was super delicious. I withhold one star because they got very busy and sort of forgot about us. The setting is beautiful and lively and the servers were very kind.

Our third trip to Tulum in less than a year and we finally made it to Casa Banana. We ordered T-Bone steak and Filet Mignon and both were fantastic. The Malbec was great too. Actually it was so great that we returned the next evening. Suckling Pig (perfection) and - yes T-Bone Steak again! Friendly service and fair prices. After... More

This is the place we had our breakfast because the nearby hotel has a deal with “Casa Banana”. If you take the continental breakfast that is included in the hotel fee, you will be disappointed. One small piece of bread for two people (and no second helping!), fruits that are overripe, and a swarm of flies that buzz around the... More
