I'm partial to chef-owned and -managed restaurants; I feel they deserve patronage--not for everyday eating maybe, but for those special occasions or when you're just tired of the crass commercialism around you and the stench of cheap alcohol and mass tourism. We've had our fill of Mexican fare but Cetli dared to push the limits and opened our minds and... More

Of about 9 restaurants during our two weeks in mexico, this was my absolute favorite. If you appreciate gourmet cooking and authentic mexican cousine this is a fine pick. We had two main dishes and a dessert, it was nice to see hearty vegetarian options on the menue and we loved them. The complementary entree was also delicious. We arrived... More

Just gorgeous little restaurant that has the most magnificent homemade food. We all loved it! This place is a home with parts of the home made into a restaurant. ( I think we were sitting in the garage!) just gorgeous and a must to see and eat at whilst visiting Tulum town. Magnificent!!

I encourage tourists staying in the zona hoteleria in Tulum to venture out and eat at Cetli, located in town. We went on a Sunday evening, when churches nearby were bursting with the sound of worshipers singing and dogs roamed the streets. Cetli was a beautiful oasis of calm, with a lovely interior from which we watched the moon rise... More

had a wonderful meal. The interior is small but rustic and quiet. Had the stuffed pepper and the citrus salad, both very tasty. Certainly worth a visit.

This place was amazing and the owner clearly has passion for the food she cooks and the way she presents it. The sauces here were great, I had the house special which was alittle on the sweet side for me, but very unique. Great aguas frescas and wine selection by waiter as well. Atmosphere is lovely although not too crowded... More

Read the reviews and was recommended by our hotel. I really wanted to like this place. Loved the look of it...quirky and packed full of weird artefacts. However as we sat down we were aware that it was SO quiet, lacking atmosphere completely! There was just one very sweet waiter with whom I could just communicate with my poor Spanish.... More

The food here was great, especially the tortilla tomato soup. The complimentary appetizer is a great way to start the meal, and sample some of the unusual and delicious flavors. My only complaint is that the Tamarind Fish was too sweet and fruity for my taste. The restaurant ambiance is really exceptional, and it's worth going for that alone.

Once again I was not disappointed by a restaurant in Tulum. Such a high standard of food and all using and showcasing Mexican traditional food.

If you want to try some real Mexican food, and something that little bit special, head to Cetli. Off the main road in Tulum town, Cetli is in the home of the owner. We sat outside in the courtyard and the family dog greeted us before going back to sleep in the corner. The food is high end mexican, homecooked,... More
