Authentic food with great atmosphere

Charming restaurant with great authentic food. During the weekend they also have a band playing music jazz was the choice when I visited. I would recommend this place for couples, family and friends. We had their breakfast and Dinner.

I've been to Tulum numerous times now and each time I try and make it to the highest rated food spots available. While everyone raves about El Camello Jr. or Hartwood, I've found that El Tabano is BY FAR my favorite spot to eat and it isn't even close. The Chicken Rojo is my favorite. The Pumpkin Lasagne is also... More

The fried coconut shrimp was the best we ever had. In fact we went back twice to have it during our week stay! Great food, inexpensive, and quick service.

The lavender smoked prawns were amazing, as were the margaritas. We ate here twice which is a compliment given how many amazing places there are to eat in Tulum

Owned by Mexican and Spanish couple- this open restaurant is a great destination for seafood lovers. I was surprised to read reviews based on the quality of ribs on the menu- If you are coming to this restaurant you cannot miss the seafood- this is not a meat and potato place. The restaurant is an open all day, the beach... More

The name means "Horsefly" in Spanish and I wish I would have stayed away. It wasn't a complete disaster because the staff was nice and there were these lovely señoras performing dances with a guitarist. The horseflies were biting and the food was really average. I sat near the kitchen and saw that the tostaditos (tortilla chips) came out of... More

Hmmmm....... Extremely long wait for food and not impressive. Sorry. Service was poor and there were only approx. 6-8 other people there besides our table so I don't understand. This was not a good experience for anyone in our group.

I hate to say it but my girlfriend and I came away disappointed. We split the lavender steamed shrimp and the Yucatan-style pork. The shrimp were an interesting flavor as garlic is almost always used, but still only pretty average. The pork was really bold with a lot of flavors. We asked for tortillas to eat it with that never... More

Very much enjoyed the gaucamole salad and coconut shrimp, the best I have ever had! Also had the rojo roasted chicken which was falling off the bone and could tell the women cooking bring years of experience and home-cooked foods!
