If you want to overpay and have mediocre Mexican meals, go to El Tabano. The only thing that looks nice at El Tabano is the ambience ( and be sure that you are paying a lot for that ). In addition you will be served by either snob or aloof waiters with attitude. I had a guacamole ensalata that taste... More

Chalk board does not appear to change, i.e. no specials...Mediocre attempt at Peninsular and Mexican classics... Pollo in Guajillo sauce is simply abominable. Very inattentive service...Overly priced... Better food at the Tulum market for a quarter of the price

Dinner earlier this week. If you are the owner of El Tabano and read these reviews then you should be concerned with the behaviour and attitude of your waiting and bar staff (not kitchen). Out of all the places we ate in Tulum, El Tabano was the only restaurant where we were on the receiving end of attitude. Starting with... More

I wish we had gone here earlier in our visit so we could've hit it a view more times. Amazing fresh food cooked in an open kitchen next to the tables. Menu changes and varies greatly. All the food is garden fresh, locally sourced. Stands up against some of the more famous places in Tulum easily. Would suggest breakfast and... More

Really good home cooked Mexican food in a fun and hip atmosphere. The menu is full of recipes by locals that are women form the town that cook the food as well. The menu is creative, natural and very tasty. The cocktails are excellent using local fresh fruit and served by a young international group of people. It's a slice of what... More

I have been living in Tulum for about two years and have tried most of the restaurants. I tried this one on the recommendation of an acquaintance who said it was popular. My first impression was that the personnel all looked very sad. This worried me at first but I tried to stay positive. The food was very expensive with... More

Had the fish tacos... Yum. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food. Not a unhappy belly at our table of 12.

This is THE MOST AWESOME restaurant in Tulum - truly! My husband had eaten here 2 years ago and this was his best dining experience; as such, he was eager to take me there. We ended up eating here twice in the 3 days that we spent in Tulum, which is saying a lot! We had a bunch of their... More

This place was very convenient for an evening cocktail and so we forgave the first couple of evenings of attitude from the staff here but finally decided to take our dollars elsewhere (posada marguerita) where we had to walk a bit further but were welcome Also they arent very accurate with the bill (extra drinks on the bill on more... Been here few times. This time the last. Attractive enough candlelit place for a seemingly cozy jungle atmosphere at night right across from Amansala. BUT--Don't let the handsome, cute waiters fool you...They are pretty slow, not very bright and always have a really bad attitude! Ruins the spirit and they just don't care! Downright obnoxious at times and I'm not... More
