really good

This was the only place I ate at twice during my stay in Tulum. I think the cold avocado-mint crema was the best thing I ate the entire trip! They have an inventive menu that stays true to the regional cuisine. It's a little pricey, but every place along the beach is kind of expensive. Here you get... read more

Went for lunch. By far the best meal we had -- cold avocado/mint soup, seafood chili relleno, coconut shrimp, pork ribs in chili verde sauce. So amazing! Staff very friendly brought over a fan to make us more comfortable. Absolutely delicious. Do not miss!

I like to spend money for a great dinner but I get really upset to spend for no quality. We took 4 meals 2 appetizer and 2 main meals: 2 fish one and 2 meat ones so try both style. appetizer meals was just without any flavour: we took "tomats caramel shrimps " that was not carameled at all,it was... Their lavender shrimp is pretty good but everything else is a pass. The food is was over priced if you ask me (speaking from someone who lives in NYC) but that's how most of the places are on the beach. The restaurant itself is very nice looking. The service is a little slow.

We enjoyed several, delicious meals at El Tabano. With its open air kitchen, staffed by experienced, Mexican chefs, you can see the care each item is given. The chile nogadas with seafood is very well done. Their flan is perfect. Add a pleasant atmosphere, live music and occasionally dancers on some evenings, and you have a perfect spot to mull... More

My wife and I had El Tabano cater our Jan. 2015 wedding in Akumal. We reviewed the menu prior to arriving in Mexico and had a tasting a few days prior to our wedding. Laura and her staff did an unbelievable job. They gave us exactly what we wanted. Many of our guests were foodies with very discerning palates -they... More

We loved Tabano. The food was great, fresh and probably the best guacamole/tomato salad I have had recently. We loved the atmosphere and this is a must eat at when you are in Tulum.

El Tabano means horsefly. Located on jungle side of the road. No reservations. Real Mexican gourmet cooking owned by a cool couple, with Mexican women in the kitchen. Delicious and atypical menu. Location is closer to early part of beach road. A must visit. However they do run out of things on their long chalk menu if you get there... More

Went last evening for dinner with family. We got something so simple like fish tacos and shrimp tacos. They lacked flavor; the shrimp were mealy and overcooked. And, we had to wait over an hour to get our meal with no acknowledgment from the waiter. When he came to take our dishes away, I told him that I did not... More

Skip the other jungle side of road Fave. It's overhyped. No Mexico beach restaurant is worth getting in line well before 3pm to try and make a dinner reservation. El Tabano was reviewed as a top 5 tulum dining must. It did not dissapoint. Great vibe , in a tulum open air style. You probably wild never know it was... More
