What a great place our taxi driver recommended it. Genuine Mexican food with no frills. Its hot due to the grills and the atmosphere is great. Food is amazing quality and so cheap we had 2 Burritos and 4 beers. All in about £10.30. That wont even buy the beer in Manchester. 10 out of 10.

If you are looking for the real deal go to El Fogon. We read other reviews and even asked the locals "where is the best Mexican restaurant in town?" The answer was usually El Fogon. You will not be disappointed. The food is phenomenal and the service is excellent.

Best al pastor tacos in town and at such a great price. Service was friendly and spoke English. Very authentic and delicious. I highly recommend these tacos

I am always searching for clean, fresh and what the locals eat, type of eateries. Smaller restaurants, carts, stands. There are some great places to eat in Playa Del Carmen but I tend to want to avoid the catered to Gringos or North American chain restaurants. I love to cook and collect recipes when I travel and so after reading... More

We loved this place. Only 5 minute walk from 5 th ave close to major supermarket. Very busy , full of locals which normally is a pretty good sign. when we arrived we had to wait in a queue but we're seated within about 5 minutes and then we would the service to be quick & efficient, the food and... We were visiting Playa del Carmen from a local resort and our sweet concierge recommended this restaurant as being a local favorite...We were not disappointed! We went around 6pm on a Monday and although the place was full, we were seated as soon as we walked up (Lucky). There was a Cuban guy singing some really nice songs to entertain... More

Omg. We had to wait in line but it was totally worth it. They had a whole pig on a spicket with the most amazing glaze from embers of the fire. They were cutting slices off the whole night. I can't remember what we had because it was a year ago but it was like whatever their signature was and... More

The tacos al pastor were delicious, but the taco loco (which we ordered because everyone else did) consisted of the scrapings from a burnt frying pan in a tortilla. If you go here, play it safe, and order the Arrachera Special, the people at the next table highly recommended it. I wish I had.

It has taken us 3 trips to Playa to get around to eating here. We were not disappointed, the hype is true. This restaurant is amazingly efficient with the demand. The grill has a smell that is out of this world. We were left wondering if we could somehow get a place like this to open in Alberta. So, YES,... More
