We were told by numerous people to hit El Fogon and we did. Wow. The place next door was barely half full and people were standing in line at El Fogon. Open air, and it was pretty hot (especially since we sat hear the spit with the roasted pork and pineapple.) but well worth it. The Queso Fundido with Chorizo... More

I went there with a party of 12 the week on August 9, 2014 and had a great meal. There were so many choices I had a hard time choosing! I highly recommend the queso fundido with rajas and the mango juice. You know it's a good place when there's a line to get into the place. The wait was... More

We had heard from the airport shuttle driver that this was a great place to eat. He was right! We tried it our first night in Playa for dinner, and it was so good we went back twice more. It is one of the few places open after midnight which was perfect for us when we needed a late night... More

Arrachera and grilled chicken dishes were phenomenal and inexpensive. Both were priced around 110 - 150 pesos ($9-12). The dishes included a large portion of arrachera/chicken, soup and sides. The sides included guacamole, peppers with a creamy cheese topping, grilled green onions, fresh tomato slices and a baked potato with sour cream. DELICIOUS!!! I am craving this dish now. It... More

Stopped here for dinner one night, we both had pork (pastor) tacos with nachos and guacamole. They were really good and filling. The bill was $170mxn for meal for two with drinks. Good value and authentic food. We were the only 'gringos' in there.

When we visited last week most of the customers were locals (always a good sign). Food is excellent and well prepared and the service great. Highly recommended.

Anything you get here rocks. Get the carne asada anything... The guac is awesome. The fruit smoothis are the bomb... We get them con agua. The locals love it and they have multiple locations.

A truly local spot in Playa, El Fogon is EASILY the best Mexican food I've ever eaten (and I live in SF and spend a ton of time in Mexico). There is almost always a line at busy dinner times but it's worth the wait. The place is packed with locals and some gringo's - but it's one of the... More

Our lunch at el fogon was bursting with flavor. The guacamole was delicious, al pastor tacos were incredible, the chorizo was the best that we have ever had and the combination plates with meat and veggies were fantastic. Every bite was absolutely delicious. We hope to go back before heading home.

This place is very simple and authentic. Is the one that you see in the tv programs showing were to eat to experience the real culture of a country. Is were the locals eat. And, you would like to experience the vibe in this place...and of course the food. We ordered the pork chops tacos and the chicken tacos...both were... More
