Went here by recommendation of our taxi driver. The tacos were ok but not great. The "gringa" I ordered seemed to be made with panela or fresco cheese, which doesn't melt. Taqueria "el ñero" was a lot better and more authentic.

Our group of 8 wanted to try local Mexican food. This place was recommended to us by the staff at our resort. It was in walking distance and I recalled reading good reviews on TA about this place. The place is very casual and the decor is not great with no air conditioning. Our group ordered chicken, chorizo, and al... More

I really enjoy the Mexican food at El Fogon in Playa del Carmen but I especially enjoy the atmosphere in the evening when singing troubadors wander in and sing some songs. This is a "must" restaurant when travelling to Playa!!

I was not impressed with the food, served without finesse - just a big and heavy portion for an affordable price. The mango shake seemed to have some kind of powder inside it...

Located outside the touristic area of the city, the restaurant provides a true Mexican tasting experience with an affordable price!

We came here several times during the day to have some snacks. Especially Tacos Al Pastor. Food is really good.

The pulled pork was very good, as was my son's steak fajitas. I had been there once before and the prices seemed higher this time. Our server, Ivan, was very attentive and it was a good experience for the kids. I would go back, but there are so many other places I want to try first.

If you want to taste the local cuisine at a fair price this is the place to go. Excellent portions, friendly staff and what is really important to me is that it is Real Mexican Food. It is just a couple of blocks away from the touristic 5 ave but it is worth it to take the walk.

This is the food you want to experience in Mexico. Real mexican food. Very good prices. Portions are big. Highly recommended. It is just a short walk away from the touristic 5 avenue.
