Delicious food

Went there for lunch last week and it was fantastic. Food was served fast and there was loads of it. First restaurant where you could actually see locals, not just tourists. We paid a third of the price of 5th avenue. No AC so it's hot and no English menu.

One of the best authentic Mexican restaurants we've been to in Playa. Menus are still only in Spanish, so best to look at the pictures of them here on the TA site and do some translating ahead of time. Tacos al Pastor are awesome and we tried the Torta el Pastor con queso for lunch yesterday (el Pastor sandwich with... More

If we lived in Mexico we would eat here at least once a week!!! We made it here twice during our one week stay. Tacos al pastor were phenomenal!! I had them at Carboncitos as well and it wasn't even a comparison. The kids had fresh juices and the mango was great. The margaritas, frozen or on the rocks, were... More

This place was recommended to us by a local. He was right on. The food was amazing and the margaritas were even better. A lot of food for the price. Two woman might want to think about sharing something. There were eight of us and our waiter, Carlos, helped us with because everything is in Spanish but he understood us... More

Best Mexican food I have had yet! The portions are enormous and when we go back we will be ordering 2 things between the 3 of us. This is a must try! And the price is right.

if you're into eating how the locals do, go here and you're in for an amazing no frills experience. Heaps of delicious grilled food at a fraction of the cost it is on the main tourist strip. No better food experience in Playa

On March 28, 2015, three couples made our annual trip to Akumal. In route from the airport we made our third visit to El Fogon (fire box). Why you say . . . because it is so authentic. Open air atmosphere with rotating pork and pineapple with great street style tacos makes El Fogon a MUST stop. This is not... More
