We thought we might just want a taste of the food - this was the place to go. Although the portions are small, by the 7th tasting, we were full. Afternoons for lunch they serve tacos as well as the Tapas. Really good and tasty.

Paella mixa for 2 was a generous portion and well prepared. Sangria was excellent as was the after dinner complimentary drink. Service was very attentive and polite.

were recently on holiday in "Playa del Carmen" and came along "EL TAPAS". Highly recommendable. Staff very friendly and excellent food. We had a variety of tapas, croquettes, Spanish omelette, paella and some others I cannot remember the name of, obviously sangría to wash it all down with. Loved every single tapa. Some of my English friends had a go... More

„Good authentic Spanish food“ - Went here twice during my stay in Playa del Carmen because I liked the food and atmosphere so much. My partner lived in Spain for a while and claimed the food was absolutely authentic. From the outside sitting area you have a nice view on the sqare in front of city hall. We were lucky... More

Stopped in for lunch here after reading all the wonderful reviews. My husband and I picked a few things off the menu...the meatballs, shrimp scampi, stuffed peppers, cuttlefish, I think a few more, too... plus the truffles for dessert. I wasn't sure how big the servings were going to be and I GREATLY appreciated the owner (I'm assuming) tell us... More

Owner was born in Mexico, but both parents are Spanish...very authentic food. Must try the Iberian ham (you can watch them carve off the leg to order) and cheese platter! Amazing! Owner suggested we try a half order and only a couple tapas which was the perfect amount! The best value for food we had in all playa del carmen... More

This was also one of my favourite restaurants in Playa and another example of the Trip Advisor community getting it right! I've had tapas in Spain & some of the choices here were better! Fun atmospere, great sangria, and good service! Just check for opening hours as we went by twice and were surprised to find it not open.

Had an excellent meal at El Tapas last night. We tried to order five tapas dishes but the waiter (I'm guessing the owner too) suggested this was too much so we dropped down to three plus a half portion of patatas bravas. He got it spot on and we were happy with the amount of food. The quality was good,... More
