We ate here on a whim. It is also advertised as "Las Carmelitas". I had a chimmichanga, my wife had garlic shrimp. Both the meals and service were average at best., and a little expensive for what you got. However, when presented with the bill I noticed that a tip ("propina") had been added to the bill! The waiter didn't... More

October 3, 2012.....we were looking for a good place for a late lunch. My friend wanted lobster and the staff was very accommodating. They brought out 4 or 5 different size lobster tails for my friend to look at and told her the price for each one so she knew exactly what she was getting. She asked for a baked... More

The food was good and not too expensive, We were in a hurry to catch a bus and they pulled out the stops to accommodate us. We also had our photo taken and were offered a quarter tequilla bottle with the photo on it for 200 pesos. It was so tacky we had to have it, though he did try... More

Stay away from this terrible place. They tried to cheat us on the exchange rate. We went here because first drink was free; not worth it; margarita tasted like water w/ sugar & blended ice. A guy came after we ordered our food, pretending to take pictures for the restaurant. He came back w/ our pictures pasted on a quarter... More

Only stopped here tonight as I had injured my shoulder and did not physically feel up to exploring further options. BIG mistake. Food is ok but VERY overpriced. Some of the waiters are super pushy and off-putting but for us there were two gems/highlights: 1) Random female member of staff slouching in the corner looking miserable and very concerned with... The worst food we had during our tour through Mexico. My boyfriend ordered a mayan style chicken, which was not very tasty but edible. I had the tikin xic-fish which was simply inedible (insipid and swimming in a puddle of water, broth or something). Cocktails and service were ok. Don't waste your money here.

My husband and I are vegan and we were struggling, walking up and down 5th Ave. looking for a restaurant who could prepare a vegan dinner. When we reached Kaan Kab, they knew what we were asking for and happily prepared a lovely dinner for us. Our only complaint was the waiter took out his tip prior to giving us... More

We had a lunch here. My wife’s mixed platter (taco, enchilada) was good, but my spicy flank steak was dry (even though I had asked for medium rare) and just plain not worth eating. The beers were cheap and the staff tried hard, but for me the worst thing I ate in Playa. With so many other options we will... More

We were just strolling down 5th and the "seller" talked us in to eating there (the menu had lots of choices and seemed to be a good match for what we were looking for). My sweet sangria was good. Kids split the pasta alfredo--nothing special, but what do you expect from alfredo. I had the empanadas (a litle overfried), and... More
