Pretty good Italian food, downtown Playa

Our family ate supper at this quaint Italian restaurant in downtown. The food was pretty good. The bread was a little stale. Even though there was an extensive wine list on the menu, they were out of the brand we wanted. The salads and ravioli were pretty tasty. We did find a better Italian... read more

Good choice of italian cuisine. Also known for their steaks which is what I usually go there for. Nice ambiance and good selection of wines and mixed drinks.

Looking for a place to have dinner. saw this nice italian restaurant at the corner. The service was excellent. We ordered a small pizza as an appetizer. Great! My linguine with calamari, clams and mussels was delicious. My wife was very pleased. We will go back when we return to Playa.

If you are in town and like Italian food, this is a must! During my week visit to Playa del Carmen, this restaurant was close to my hotel and decided to give it a try. Pasta and pizza were superb at a fair price! The waiter was pretty friendly and explained everything! Food always came pretty fast and fresh cooked... More

Worst service ever. The waiter was rude, the food is bad! Linguini was soaked in oil (or bad butter), the bruschetta came with cheese, although not written on menu and after the waiter was told that one of us has severe dairy alergies. Saw us "scratching" the chese from the toast, but did not offer to change it for non... More

We were looking for a restaurant away from the madding crowd (Avenida 5) and found it in Don Mario. The owner is from Milan so the menu is genuine Italian. We ate there three times during our stay of six nights and found the standard to be high. There is also a good wine list at reasonable prices. If you... More

Came upon Don Mario's while out searching for somewhere new off 5th ave. Checked out the menu out front. Was not accosted by the waiter standing beside it, just let us look without saying a word, that was nice. Had what we were looking for so decided to give it a try. Nice little table for 2 outside just off... More

I've lived here for many years and never ate here before till yesterDay and I have to say I was very impressed! The beef carpaccio to start, was very well served! It came with lots of arugula and parmesan! For the price was very well served! Not expensive at all! The pastas menu is extensive as well! I love raviolis... More

As a Italian i must say it was not so good. I are gnocchi but they were not really good and I tasted a peace of focaccia. Didn't like it . Service was good and they are friendly but if you are used to Italian kitchen you will be disappointed
