Outstanding fresh seafood, great value!

Crammed with locals, this little seafood restaurant is hidden off the main tourist track--but not so far off that you can't find it relatively easily. Went with a friend, I got a pile of garlic shrimp and she ordered garlic filet. We both got huge portions of food and it was awesome. The prices are great and I will be back before I leave town. Truly a great find!

My sister took me this restaurant last year when we went to Playa del Carmen and as soon as we landed this time that's exactly where we headed. I went to play with friends and they were immediately impressed. The food is absolutely extraordinary! I've never had fish so fresh and so good because even with fresh fish you have... More

El Pirata is a small place popular with the locals and now a few tourists. Nothing fancy at all. But great food. We sampled the Garlic Shrimp and whole fried fish. Both were probably the best seafood we ate in Playa. If you like hole in the wall places with a local flavor you will love this place. As others... More

The food (especially my fresh catch garlic grouper) and staff were terrific. But my wife was very specific when she ordered a SMALL lobster tail. (There were two choices and the bigger tail predictably came with a bigger price.) The waiter presented a tail beforehand and asked for her approval. How was she to know if the one she was... More

There's noting special about this place. The menu, and the ambiance is a common " mexican street food" place, even the staff is a little rude to take your order, but thats also the greatest here, it's a genuine experience, don't come if you expect impeccable service and a great menu. Its just fried fish, shrimp salad (cocktails) and a... More

Great beach bar with chairs to rent. Cold buckets of beer, great service, the seafood platter is the BEST! Swings at the bar, and margaritas with mas tequila in them!! Breakfast is good too, can't beat the view!!!
