Delicious seafood

The place is a real local pescaderia, with few tourists, no AC, and often has a waiting time. But the food we tried was really good and fresh: ceviche and a whole fried red snapper.

Do you know you can get a kilo of shrimp to go here for I believe around 180 pesos? The shrimp are huge they look like baby lobster tails. I actually OD'd on El Pirata so much I don't think I can eat shrimp for the next year! It's so good they quick fry them and give you a spicy... More

If you want FRESH, delicious seafood at a place frequented by locals, this is the place to go. Their ceviche is to die for, and everything on the menu was good. Highly recommended and a nice break from the madness of 5th avenue!

I went by there late one afternoon to take a whole cooked fish home. LOTS of people in line....Lots of "butting" in line by many...I love Playa and the people here, but these employees did not seem to be the friendliest.

The place itself isn't fancy or pretty but, let's face it, the local ones tend to be the best ones when it comes to food. So, if you are a sea food lover, treat yourself to this spot. Warning: dishes are huge! I would recommend sharing a couple of different plates and you'll be fine.

It is located right next to the scuba diving shop I was (Diversity Diving) and it was recommended from more than a couple of friends. This is a place were local eats. Cheap and fresh seafood that was alive in the morning. maybe a couple of foreigners who really know what they want. I really feel sorry for all the... More

The host from the condo we stayed at recommended this place. And boy am I glad he did. We stayed on 42 Norte and 1ra which is a block below 5ta. The restaurant is on 40 Norte between 5ta and 10, so we only walked about 4 short blocks. We were a family of 7. We ordered a large mixed... More

We got the recommendation from our taxi driver and we were no disappointed at all. This place is very popular. When you visit El Pirata don't expect fancy touristic stuff but fresh and authentic Mexican seafood. Actually, it is a Fish Market and Restaurant. We sat outside, right on the sidewalk. Don't worry, you won't see a ton of people... More

A great place to eat fresh fish! The nice thing about this place is that you are able to pick the fish you want to eat. In order to do this you need to go next-door to there fridge and pick it out! It is great for lunch, nothing fancy, and don't expect great service, food highly recommend it!

I went to this place with high hopes. Very disappointing, the service at this place is horrible,i mean it was the worst i have ever had on this planet. It took forever to get seated, the place is very small. Once i was seated it took all day to get someone to the table, and then when i ordered my beer,it... More
