Description: The grouper with garlic and butter for 90 pesos can't be beat anywhere. Service was good, portions are huge , drinks are large and excellent, and the location is right on the beach (feet in the sand if you choose). A great value.

$390 pesos for a broken plastic cafeteria tray with greasy rice from the night before lukewarm, ceviche which didn't even get its own bowl or Styrofoam container.. it was in a foil. fish morsels with something kinda stinky and garlicky on it and shrimp or should I say onions and shrimp? lol To be honest I was disgusted just by... After going to Playa del Carmen for about 15 years, we finally discovered La Tarraya a few years ago. It's the oldest restaurant in Playa, and still around for many reasons! Cheap fresh seafood, cheap drinks, great margaritas, toes in the sand, and awesome views! Always a 1st stop now! They don't beg for your business like many places in... More

After many years, this is still my favorite restaurant in Playa! Right on the beach - under the palms. Best ceviche, coldest beer and best (and cheapest) margaritas - with good service to boot. A great place to rest after arriving from the airport.

The beach location is great but that's probably the only positive we can take from our visit to La Tarraya. The food we ordered was really bad, not helped by chewy ceviche that had us both concerened about possible side-effects. Drinks were also overpriced which was annoying. So far it's been the worst experience we've had, food-wise, in Playa del... More

La Tarraya is very informal - we sat at a plastic table on the beach. The service was good and the food excellent for the price - very fresh though not particularly creatively prepared. I would recommend it to anyone who likes fresh seafood and isn't looking for anything fancy.

I can tell you that you won't pay a lot here and that's a relief considering how poor quality of food you're getting. The service the times we visited was not ever very friendly to the point I almost didn't want to leave much of a tip. The fish tacos and guacamole were the only saving grace as the burgers... More

While I think this restaurant is in a perfect spot on the beach, we really didn't care for the food. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and thought the service was good. I had a shrimp lunch special which was just average at best. My husband had the squid and did not care for it at all. I believe their specialty... More

The ideal place for us to eat on vacation - good, cheap local food in a beautiful setting! It was simple fresh seafood offered in a variety of ways with great portions and local prices. We sat eating with a view of the gorgeous beach and our feet in the sand.

When I got on the bus leaving Cancun airport I asked the bus driver where he eats. This topped his list. When you go to Playa del Carmen, seafood is what you should eat. In La Tarraya, ceviche and cocteles are the order of the day. Their price is half of what everyone else's and their plates are twice as... More

Out of the way but, on the beach. Not very fancy but , good food and service. We had the whole fried snapper. Hard to pass up when they were swimming earlier that day! Served with rice and salad. Just okay but, fish was great!! At the end of a small street. A little dark but, don't stop til you... More
