The grouper with garlic and butter for 90 pesos can't be beat anywhere. Service was good, portions are huge , drinks are large and excellent, and the location is right on the beach (feet in the sand if you choose). A great value.

Go here for fried fish!

The fried grouper (tried a grilled version and it was smothered in sauce so stick to fried) is great and inexpensive! We went here twice at night. It's nothing fancy but the fish is very lightly breaded and good and the margarita's are strong. I think we only spent around $30 on dinner and... read more

La Tarraya was stop #1 on my impromptu taco crawl of Playa del Carmen. It was early, just before11 am and we ducked inside not sure if they were open. Sat just outside service was okay, beer was cold. Sampled Grouper, Shrimp, Octopus and a combo taco. Not a bad first stop, good price and a great place to relax... More

We stayed at Hotel Posada Sian Kaan right on second calle and this place was rated as a top seafood place in Playa and they also offered umbrella and drink service. I read up om it on TripAdvisor and our first morning down to the beach it was the hustle and bustle to get you to sit at their restaurant... More

We were told to go to La Tarraya for the best fish in town. Plus it is one of the oldest restaurants in town. Unfortunately, none of us liked our meals. The seagulls were attacking everyone's plates outside. So we moved inside to eat. Then our fish fillets weren't even 1/4 inch thick. I would not recommend eating here. There... More

This is a beach restaurant nex to the hotel we stayed at. The wait staff pushed the special, which was an overpriced seafood cervichi, but it was tasty. Once we had a chance to peruse the menu, we found some great prices on burgers etc., so we had lunch there several times! a good deal for food on the beach... More

the food is amazing. We had ceviche, guacamole, beans and rice for kids, the platter for 2, and we went back a few times after the first, it was that good. The venue is beachy and chill. Chino the server is right on it!

Good value with the sound of waves crashing onto the sandy beach. Authentic mexican cuisine, well prepared, reasonably priced and delicious.

Six of us enjoyed supper at this quaint little restaurant right on the beach just off 5th Ave in Playa del Carmen. Fiod was very good and the prices were very fair. Service was friendly and fast. I will eat here again!

Once again, the piece of fish served here is the best you'll experience anywhere. Melt in your mouth fresh grouper - large fillet - for under ten bucks. This entree would be over 30 dollars in Chicago. You just can't beat La Tarraya for fresh fish and ceviche. Yes, the place is not much to look at - it's pretty... More
