My husband and I stayed in PDC in early April. We happened upon this restaurant quite by chance but I remembered it had received good reviews online (it's a bit out of the way). I can't say enough good things about our meal; bar none, the best mexican food I have ever tasted and we have traveled a lot! You... More

We discovered the monkey cave several years ago. We like good food, good atmosphere, and good service. We usually eat several meals there and try for breakfast, lunch, and dinner because they are all different and terrific. The food is consistently great. Do not miss the cream of habanero soup. It may sound scary, but it is well worth it.

The food was delicious. Try the tuna on tostadas appetizer, so good. I had the fish fillet in mole. My mouth waters just thinking of it. Only problem, depending on where you sit, as you feast on the wonderful food, mosquitoes may be feasting on you. I also did not like that the bartender was making fun of our annoyance... More

We were recomended this restaurant by someone that had been living in Playa Del Carmen and we were not disapointed. Twice we were very happy with our meals, but the third time the fried fish was ull of bones and less than perfect. But in general the price level is moderate and the surroundings is like being in a tropical... More

The place is a true oasis. We went there at 1pm ish after a late night. They were still serving breakfast at that time. I had the 'huevos motulenos' a couple of sunny side up eggs placed over a layer of refried beans and crispy tortillas, topped with summer peas and diced ham, and surrounded with a thin layer of... This was our first visit to La Cueva del Chango for dessert, it has long been a favorite for breakfast and lunch. We were pleasantly surprised by the unusual, creative offerings like shrimp in a rich sauce of chiles and plum jam. The appetizer of a chile stuffed with shrimp was so fine. We wanted to sit out in the... More
