Delightful in every way ... we love this place!

A fantastic and artsy tropical setting, a wonderful and attentive staff, perfectly prepared local cuisine: Cuevo del Chango is a complete and satisfying experience. Seven visits over five years = seven perfectly great dinners for our party of four. We've sampled many of their items -- Soups, Salads, Chicken, Fish, poblano chili, chilaquiles -- and all have been excellent. So... More

My wife and I visited this restaurant 4 times while in playa and we just fell in love with the entire experience. Excellent food, lots of fresh salads for my salad loving wife, salsas were amazing along with the guacamole, Margaritas perfect, and the overall ambience and decor are just so fun yet romantic too...little turtles came up to us... Fantastic place to eat in Playa del Carmen. We ate their twice in a week, and with the hundreds of places to try that shows you how great we found it. I had the guacamole and then the mole the first time and the guacamole again and the jumbo shrimp. Fantastic on both occasions. The staff were super and the... More

We were recently in Playa and enjoyed a variety of restaurants yet seemed to keep coming back to La Cueva del Chango! For breakfast do not miss their special pineapple, orange, and chaya green juice and for lunch the shrimp in jalapeno cream sauce was to die for. All dishes were accompanied by their roasted tomato (green and red) salsas... More

Having been here before, we were looking forward to a nice dinner. The waiter got one of the orders completely wrong. After a gracious apology and a promise that the correct order would be just a few minutes, we waited. 40 minutes later, after everyone around us had been served and left, the entree came, but it was still not... My wife and I went on a Sunday morning and other than the wait to get a table, were quite impressed. I like to read the negative reviews and see if it has changed since then. It has in our eyes. The food was great, service was good, and we really liked the atmosphere. The soup was great and so... More

Last minute search for a nice out of the way restaurant in Playa. I read a few posts and chose to go with this restaurant with the family. We sat in the back patio and felt like you were in a jungle, way cool. Food was very good and they all spoke good English and were very polite. Recommend for... More

The freshness of the food, the creativity of the chef and the friendliness of the staff made this place one of our favorites during our trip. We ate both breakfast and dinner here, make sure to go for both if you can!

Arriving in Playa so far ahead of schedule our rental was not ready, we opted to return to one of our favorite places to kill some time. Just like on our first two visits, we decided to sit outside at the back of the restaurant right next to one of the ponds containing turtles and exotic fish. Drinks were superb.... More
