In July 1996 Blue lobster opens in Playa del Carmen to become a favorite of locals and tourists to enjoy a delicious lobster, fish and seafood. Built with tropical wood, stone slab, thatched roofs and waterfalls that give an extra relaxation touch. We always try to satisfied and exceed our customers’ expectations. Excellent food, polite waiters and a fantastic view of the fifth Avenue will make you spend an unforgettable night. We have capacity for 130 persons on two levels and an air conditioning area to 22. Blue lobster makes a compromising bet on mexican wine and regional sea dishes that result in a perfect union. They have created perfect unions for their wines’ selection through a very special menu that proposes the perfect combination between their gastronomy and their wines. As three dishes’ menu with different wine suggestions in order to please every palate: reds, whites, roses and foamy wines.

Not As Good As Last Time

Huge lobster "tails". The waiters were great, but the kitchen got the orders confused, and the grilled and broiled choices were mixed up. Mine was overdone and on the rubbery side. Big, crazy drinks. Fun place, but the food was not as good this time.

I'm sure this place was a place to go 10 years ago when Playa was a small, undiscovered town. Now that Playa del Carmen is booming with new and sophisticated restaurants, this one is not even trying to keep up. Lobsters are just so-so, but expensive. Dated ambiance and a menu right out of the 90's. This is on the... More

The Blue Lobster certainly lives up to its name but dining here will make you anything but blue. The restaurant is most attractive in the Riviera Maya style and they separate smokers from non-smokers by placing the smokers downstairs. The staff is welcoming and generous in every way. They bring five of the freshest Caribbean lobster tails imaginable and sell... More

Went here as there was a sign: 2 for 1 Margaritas. As we told the waiter we want only drinks he turned very unfriendly. And the Margaritas? It was not even 0,2Dl I've got. And they charged us 89mxn (6Usd)? The glass was small, nothing special (something u buy at a supermarket, the cheapest glasses they have there). We went... More

Cadillac margarita was acrid and not sweet enough for me. Had one last month and it was excellent. Pico was soggy. Asked for some fresh and got the same stuff in a smaller bowl. My guess is that it was yesterday's. Guacamole was flavorless. Sauces with shrimp and veggie tempura were from a jar. Husband's seafood pasta was mediocre. Lots... More

I ended up with food envy. Stick to the main lobster courses (I read this while writing it and think I was dumb for straying, haha). I got the stuffed shrimp avocado from the salad menu thinking it was going to be a leafy green type of salad, but it was just a lump of shrimp salad (mayo type) with... More

We recently visited The Blue Lobster - our 4th visit - to celebrate my husband's birthday. This is our favourite restaurant in Playa Del Carmen. We love the ambiance, the service and the varied menu - especially the grilled lobster. We always recommend The Blue Lobster to family and friends visiting the Mayan Riviera and we will definitely be back... More

We ate at the Blue Lobster twice because there were so many interesting dishes on the menu that we had to go back. Our server, "Loco Lalo", was attentive, but also knew when to leave us alone to enjoy our meal. If we are ever in Playa again we will definitely go back.
