Great Dinner

We made a last minute decision to have dinner hear on our first night in Playa and we were very happy we did. The food was well prepared and the service was excellent. I highly recommend a tableside dessert preparation from Benito!!!

We usually try to eat here once each year when we're in PDC, but have skipped it the last two years. This time, we made sure to go back and it was superb food, with very good service. Distinctly different, authentic Mayan food, not the pedestrian MX food, but real Mayan original dishes prepared well. Try it, you'll love it.

This restaurant used to be a very good restaurant but the last three times I went there the food was just not good at all...very good service but not the food. I do not recommend this restaurant. La Quinta Avenida has plenty of very good restaurants.

We were both happy and a tad disappointed with the experience here. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and is a relaxing atmosphere about it. We had the Massewal soup which was absolutely amazing and we would definitely go back again for this soup. We had the conchinita pibil and that's where the disappointment fell as we had hoped for more... More

Yummmmm. It was as delicious as it was unfamiliar. We shared Mayan Kiniche Chicken. Exactly as stated earlier: Yummmmm! And even though the retaurant is right in the heart of Playa del Carmen, its warm atmosphere was a welcome contrast to the obscene commercial hype of Fifth Avenue itself.

Every trip to Playa requires a visit to Yaxche for lunch. Great people watching, shaded, friendly staff. But the food is also worth it. The spicy margaritas, the starters, ceviche, cochinita pibil, the fish... all so good. ONE NOTE: The black mole turkey is not for everyone. Black mole there is made from crushed burned peppers: read, ashes. It has... More

I thought this place had good promise - nice decor and atmosphere plus friendly staff. However the food was a bit of a letdown. I had the kimich chicken which had good flavour but the portion was small and the vegetables poorly cooked. My boyfriend had the pork with tortillas and he said it was totally bland, no flavour at... we ate here our first night in Playa. My boyfriend had fish in a leaf packet, which was terrific. My shrimp was cold but tasty. Would go back.
