Delicious and different

We wanted to Maya-influenced food, so we chose Yaxche for a nice dinner. The place is very pleasant and colorful, and the food was outstanding. I had fish with black mole, perfectly grilled. It came with a plantain puree with vanilla, which was a great complement, and yummy grilled vegetables... read more

I would give a great rating if the customer service had been better... The food hands down is excellent, but the service is average at its best. We had a nice meal and wanted to enjoy some coffee and chat in the end... but barely finishing our coffee, without asking for it, the bill landed on our table signaling that... More

We had lunch at this restaurant and the food was pretty good, however paying the bill was a pain. We were splitting it among four people on credit cards and once the first two had paid, the waiter came up with a random number saying the first ones had not added the tip, when in fact they had added a... Best yucatan style food on avenue 5 I recommend the conchinta pibil , Mayan margaritas . The upstairs patio view is great gives you a view of the whole street

This restaurant has really friendly and attentive staff, delicious and varied food and the menu is clearly marked with what is traditionally Mayan, and what's vegetarian. On the slightly pricier side for Playa but still excellent value. Their photographer will try to sell you a photo in a frame and tequila with your photo on the bottle but you can... More

Friendly Mexican restaurant with good food and helpful staff. In the centre of the shopping area. The only issue I was not happy about was on the bill which was very reasonable they had put on two totals that you could choose to tip them. I was happy giving a tip but did not like being told how much. They... More

This restaurant is very good. My son ordered a beef dish that was honestly to die for. The corn tortillas very excellent and overall the service was great. They took our family photo at he table and tried to sell us a framed photo with a bottle of tequila with our pic, but they were not too pushy when we... More

We stopped by here just to escape the heat while walking through downtown and ended up having some margaritas, cervezas, and the Cochinita Pibil. We weren't that hungry but wanted to try the food since we were there and because calories don't count when you're on vacation! ;) Everything, including the chips and salsa, were delicious, the place was clean,... La Ceiba árbol de la vida (tree of life), Excelente food, a real taste of Mayan cuisine. You must try Cochinita pibil with abanero. Totally worth it.

My wife and I visited Yaxche last week for the first time as part of a group of nine adults and kids (a destination wedding crowd). We were welcomed, seated immediately, and treated to friendly service throughout. Everyone in the group spoke glowingly of his or her meals. The Cochinita Pibil itself forced the two of us to return again later... More
