For many years we had vacationed in Playa del Carmen and ever since discovering Byblos in the late 1980's, we fell in love with the food and friendliness of Sylvie and Christian. As Playa overdeveloped from the sleepy little town we loved, into a mini-Cancun, we stopped visiting. This April-May brought us back for a convention at Grand Velas, so... More

We've been by numerous times over the years and remarked that it looked nice but never ventured in until tonight, our mistake. Excellent food & service. If you go before 7:30 there is a price fixe dinner with choice of appetizer, entrea, dessert and a glass of wine. One of the best deals in Playa for gourmet dining! We will... More

This French restaurant is so good and spot-on, you'll forget you are in Mexico, not France. Choices are plenty so hard to make a choice, wishing we had another date to return and try again. Owners made us feel so welcome and all the 'locals' raved about all the menu. Said there wasn't anything on the menu that wasn't good.

When I went to the local dog pound, the nice girl said that it was supported by a compassionate French lady who also had a restaurant, Byblos. After bathing at the beach (foot of Constituyentes) I walked to Byblos, arriving precisely at 3, when it opened. Christian served me a bottle of La Cetto Chenin Blanc, I drank and read... More

We returned to Byblos, having eaten there twice on our previous trip. This was our first visit to the new location. Service from the couple who own Byblos was excellent and never invasive. Food arrived promptly and was all freshly made. Soup and pasta entrees were excellent as was the salmon. Wine list was very good, but wines by the... More

We were so happy to discover that Byblos did not close but moved over to 10th Avenue!!! Have been going there for a few years and were not disappointed again. Excellent meal, gracious service, great price for the Specials. A must in Playa Del Carmen.

Why waste your money in food that is boring? Why do you want to waste time and money in food prepared for the masses of tourists that visit Playa? This is the only place that has really amazing food at reasonable prices. Sylvie knows her food and her wines!

Byblos was recommended to us by our driver and we can't thank him enough. Located at 10th Ave and 24th St ,its away from the madness of 5th Ave in a nice looking neighborhood of Playa. There is outdoor seating as well as indoor. We took the advice of a Tripadvisor reviewer and sat outside but at the rear, away... More

My sister, brother-in-law, husband eat here each year during our annual trip. On this trip, we had lamb chops, fish a la plancha and vegetable lasagna. All meals were very good, the wine was great, and the chocolate lava dessert was fabulous. Most of the prices seemed reasonable and comparable to similar restaurants; however, the lamp chops were pricey. The... More
