A lost opportunity

Located in the center of Merida, close to the main square, the restaurant is in a very charming building with a large patio with a wonderul tree at the center. This could be the perfect place for a romantic dinner or a relaxing evening after a long day visiting the local attractions. With some... read more

Merida, strangely enough, seems to not have a lot of resturants to enjoy seafood even though it is close to the gulf of mexico. However, Amaro has yet to disappoint us with the quality of their seafood. Yes, this is a tourist restaurant and frequented by groups, but we go their and set under the portal and enjoy watching the... More

I had read plenty about this restaurant, although I like to eat vegetarian (not religiously), my husband does not. To my delight we walked by Amaro at lunch time and my husband suggested we eat here! Both of us were happy as the selection of meat, fish and vegetarian were plentiful. The atmosphere was lovely...In a courtyard off the street... More

We were looking for something vegan and they have a few things on the menu but they really don't get the difference between vegan and vegetarian so you need to be very specific if that is what your after. Really enjoyed the restaurant and they had live music. A very romantic atmosphere and definitely for adults and not children or... More

My hubby and I ate here 3 times during a week long stay in Merida. Once for lunch and twice for dinner. I am seafood vegetarian and they had great vegetarian options available. The courtyard (interior garden) area is a beautiful oasis. The band they had playing one evening was amazing - such great talent - made for a very... More

Amaro is a restaurant experience travelers to Mérida must not miss. The waiters are old world professionals who cater to your every whim and often think of your needs before you do. The setting is absolutely lovely, and the food is delicious. The multi-lingual staff will explain every dish to you, if you like. Eat slowly, enjoy the golden age... More

We ate here during lunch time, trying to get some shade and avoid the heat. The interior garden is very quiet and relaxing, and the waiter was very kind and helpful. He even made some recommendations of places to visit around Merida. The food was very good and well cooked.

This restaurant was close to my two week hotel stay in Merida and therefore saw me attending it twice when I was in the mood for a higher level of ambiance and quality for food and service. I easily rate the Amaro as "very good" in virtually all respects; quality of food, service, amenities ( clean restrooms) with a pleasant... More

Though we spent in Merida in total not more than half a day, we managed to visit Amaro twice since we loved it a lot! We saw some other dinner spots from Tripadvisor top list, however, they were looking more like cantines (I am speaking only about atmosphere/ interior, no ideas about the food!). Back to Amaro: when we first... More

Inmerse in downtown, the restaurant Amaro is set in an old house, the place is not very big, usually have some exposure (photography, crafts, etc.) At night a trovador enlivened the evening which gives a bohemian air. I could try thes pizza on 2 occasions and definitely its thin and crispy batter make it my favorite! although the Argentine empanadas and... More
