After a huge deception with the back neighbours of this restaurant, Amaro came as a great relief. The venue and atmosphere (with live music) are great, the staff friendly and service- minded and the food is well above average. So, what can you want more?

Well if you order pizza in Mexico...... A friendly welcome for a snack lunch at this restaurant was a pleasure on a scorching day in Merida. Conveniently close but away from the madness of the Gran Plaza on Sunday midday. I can't say the food was anything to rave about but the pizza was generous and tasty. Let's face it,... More

Amaro's was fantastic! We've gone twice in less than a week. Tried the Vegetarian Fajitas - excellent!! Fresh veggies sauté in a light, flavorful sauce and served with handmade corn tortillas, black beans and the best guacamole!! Delicioso margaritas and the melt in your mouth chocolate nut cake with homemade ice cream! And the Avocado Pizza - WOW!! Everything was... More

Visited this place on our first night in Merida and thought it was lovely. The tables are set in a colonnaded open courtyard, with a tree, and a small stage for live music. There was an exhibition of the work of a local photographer displayed around the walls when we visited. Some fascinating B&W historical shots. The lighting is low... More

We have frequented Amaro's for about 10 years. It is in the heart of Merida's old Town. The waiters are always attentive, positive and friendly. We are vegetarians and like the chaya crepes. spinach lasagne, avacado pizza, and chaya drink and more. Good prices and beautiful courtyard make it our favorite in Merida. Nice live music at night. Usually a... More

Best restaurant in Merida! Need I say more?! I have lived (and dined) here for the past 14 years and nobody beats Amaro's for ambiance, always great food & service, reasonable prices and wonderful trova music on the weekends. If you missed Amaro's on your last visit, come back and make it a must do. You won't regret it!

We had lunch here and it was really good. My daughter who is vegetarian loved the numerous options and went for the Chaya creeps and loved them. We had conchita pibil, chicken empanadas and a chicken and pepper dish and all were really good. Our waiter was excellent. The courtyard is lovely. We would definitely return.

We had dinner at Amaro on our second evening in Merida after reading the reviews. The restaurant is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting in the courtyard, which we got to enjoy for quite awhile. Our waiter was far from attentive and seemed a bit surly. I started with the spinach salad with garlic. It tasted quite good but had way... More

The place is a lovely colonial style house in calle 59, very close to the main plaza. The atmosphere is relaxing, most of the times there is live music played by an artist with his guitar. The food (choices of mexican, pizzas and vegetarian) is very good and reasonably priced. We loved it.

Amaro is located in a beautiful old building with an open inviting courtyard that lets you kick back and look at the stars over drinks and dinner. My husband is vegetarian and there are ample options to choose from - and the best part is that it's not just veggie pasta or pizza; there are traditional Yucatecan dishes made vegetarian.... More
