There's restaurants that are citie's heritage. La tradición is one of them. They give Merida taste, passion, memories and explains Yucatán's culture in a beautiful way. This is a nice restaurant, family ambience and excellent food. It's speciallized on Yucatan's food. I suggest try Combinado Yucateco that is enough for one or two persons, maybe some appetizers more and its... More

Nice place, good food. Steps from a little cute plaza. I tried a "rescued" dish: pavo mechado, I think, and it was really good. It was some kind of stewed turkey with spices in a light broth. It was still a regional dish, but different from the more typical ones.

This lovely restaurant has the BEST ever Chaya cocktails (no alcohol). They say they’re healthy, but mostly they taste amazing. We also had a traditional Yucatan meal, Cochinita Pibil and Poc-Chuc. We really enjoyed eating there. The food was excellent. Prices were reasonable, given that it’s not a fast food restaurant. The ambience is peaceful and the artwork celebrates the... More

Very disappointing in all aspects, especially since they had good reviews from previous guests. It was a large restaurant, and there was only one patron there. We thought that was because of the time of day and asked if they were closing, but they were open for another few hours. The decor was not very traditional or attractive. We ordered... More

This restaurant was recommended to me by a local. I dining alone for dinner and was given a good table. Once served, I felt ignored. All of the waiters were in the back part of the restaurant loudly talking and ignoring the customers, most of whom were not Mexicanos. A large family of Spanish speakers came in and more than... La Tradicion invest in marketing such as billboards, magazines... however their marketing claims fall short of reality. My family and friends decided to visit La Tradicion for the first time, and we were highly disappointed. First and foremost, my son found hair in his food. Also, the service is poor and not attentive. The food is average to good ,... More

Upon reading several of the other reviews, after we had gone, I was sure I had been at the wrong place. The restaurant was not tired looking but fresh. We had an early lunch, few people there, and service was wonderful. We tried dishes that were knew to us. Whether or not they were "traditional" I do not know. However,... More

Maybe it was the name, I do not know but is not such traditional thing. The place looks a bit battered but not traditional, the food is average with no flavor. I ordered the Friday`s Special (Pig with beans), no taste at all. The real good thing is the ice-cream (specially the cheese flavor), if you go try it.

Loved the Jugo de Chaya - absolutely fantastic and so fresh. Shot of tequila reposado in it was also yummy! Loved the traditional dishes we ordered too - the staff was very kind and attentive. Would definitely return and recommend to others. Also a good price performer amidst some pretty expensive touristy restaurants nearby.
