If it looks like a local and walks like a local...its a local...this place was recommended to us by a local...when we got there it was nearly full of what appeared to be locals and it was delicious, we had the stuffed potatoes and a margarita, and both were delicious all of the plates looked great and the service was... A local chain restaurant, like Chili's in the US, that offers a wide variety of quick, mid-range priced (local standards not foreign) tacos, pizzas, salads, tortas and more plus cheap alcoholic mixed drinks. Great for families because of the wide range of food selections. It is a very modern, clean and inviting eating space in the historic center of Merida.... More

This place is a winner in our book. It may be slightly overly lit and "fast food -ish", but the al Pastor is delicious. I've heard raves about the pizza also, but we had the tacos and for 19 pesos each, you can't beat it. And if you're game, try a tiny bit of the homemade habenaro salsa. Tasty, but... More

We visited Los Trompos several times while in Merida. The restaurant offers good food and friendly service. We have tried everything from breakfast, tacos, pizza, salad and all was good. They have a live band on weekends and a nice patio. Pizza Al Pastor - This is a must if you go there! It is so good....

My husband and I were in Merida for 4 days and although we had hundreds of options of places to eat, this is the only restaurant we revisited. Their huevos motuleños was fantastic and the puc chuc tacos phenomenal! The service was very attentive and fast. The wifi is only open at breakfast and you'll need to ask for the... More

Each year during the Summer months when many of the locals from Merida go and stay in their beach homes near the Port of Chicxulub, a number of quality, high-end restaurants from Merida open a temporary location in Chicxulub. Los Trompos has a fun atmosphere and good food. We had a large group friends and we all enjoyed the great... More

Our party of vie arrived while the restaurant was not crowded. We were greeted and seated promptly. Everyone selected different items, but with one exception, the food was VERY cold. The FrenchToast did not have cream cheese as advertised, but rather were covered with slices of cold manchego or American cheese. The club sandwich was served as it should have,... More

i live in Meirda and have watched the downtown area stay pretty undeveloped, that can be a good thing. however the only people to put money into the centro area, which is one of the most beautiful in all of Mexico, are convenience stores OXXO and EXTRA. about four years ago without much fanfare Los Trompos restored this old art...
