Authentic Yucatecan food!

Down home cooking, not expensive, very eager to please! Staff was very helpful in explaining the various dishes that were not familiar to us. We went bck the next day.

The waiter was grumpy and unfriendly. The whole staff looked like they hated life. The food was average at best - meat was dry. We were kicking ourselves for missing delicious, authentic food with a fun, friendly local staff that were glad you were there.

La Chaya is a typical local restaurant where locals have been visiting since their early years in life. Very traditional all the way to the beautiful traditional dresses worn by the local women. The seafood is extremely delicious and the price is just right.

Lunch here was the perfect way to begin my 48 hr Merida vacation stop. Authentic yucatan food. The hostess was gorgeous.

We ate here a couple times during our stay in Merida as it was right down the street from us. The food was really good - we had the Yucatan specials and the salads, but the best thing was this dessert of bread pudding, with ice cream and the local honey liqueur poured over it. The wait staff were very... More

I ate breakfast here every day for the two weeks I spent on Isla Holbox. The food and drinks were excellent and plentiful. I look forward to returning.

What's not to like? Chaya Maya begins with some of the nicest, sweetest greeters in any restaurant anywhere. Add that to the attentive wait staff, convivial atmosphere, great food, great drink selection, and prices consistent with the quality presented, there are no negatives to Chaya Maya. I ate there three times in two weeks, and would return again the next... More

Not what we expected, food was just 'average' yucatan, so many other restaurants, ambiance was nice, staff was busy running around covering alot of tables.
