Chaya Maya

What's not to like? Chaya Maya begins with some of the nicest, sweetest greeters in any restaurant anywhere. Add that to the attentive wait staff, convivial atmosphere, great food, great drink selection, and prices consistent with the quality presented, there are no negatives to Chaya Maya. Not what we expected, food was just 'average' yucatan, so many other restaurants, ambiance was nice, staff was busy running around covering alot of tables.

We ate here twice but didn't have to wait in any lines. The food was very good but I wouldn't stand in line there are to many other fantastic restaurants in the area.

Very helpful, friendly staff. Authentic local cuisine. Good size portions. The Turkey soup is amazing. Lovely fresh juices.

If you want greasy heavy food this place is for you. We didn't finish half of our dinner. Too many tourists, busy, busy, busy. Don't bother; angry snotty waitresses. Go to La Negrita for food and drink. It's gritty but that's the way we like it or Marlin Azul. Real people, real food, and cheap. I wouldn't send my dog... More

Had some pollo pibil and margaritas. Couldn't fault anything. The chicken was pretty amazing and the hand made tortillas literally came straight off the heat from the old ladies in the window. Little bit of a tourist show but nonetheless they're still fresh tortillas! Prices were reasonable, good service and ambiance. Highly recommend.

You read other reviews and think this is the bomb, it's just a fire cracker like all the other fire crackers. I heard that it was tourist every where and by the looks of it we were the only ones. Descent meal, great service. Would we be back? Sure.

A freind suggested this restaurant and it was great, very authentic, locals and tourists abound, plus tortillas being made on the spot. In addition, because the tables are always filled, the sense being in the moment is extraordinary.

We saw how crowded was the restaurant on Calle 62 and we thought it must have been a good place. As it was very crowded, we were taken to another restaurant on Calle 55. The service and atmosphere were good. Half of the people thought the food was okay, half said the food was blend and seafood and chicken overcooked.... More

The atmosphere and food was great. This is the place to go just a short walk from the Grand Plaza. It caters mostly to locals and its popularity speaks of good food. The prices are very reasonable. The only strike against was the waiter who disappeared! Try the deserts. The one we had was pastry with icecream and liqueur. Yummy!... More
