Each year during the summer months when many of the locals from Merida go and staying in their beach homes near the Port of Chicxulub and a number of high-end restaurants from Merida open a temporary location in Chicxulub. La Recova is one of those restaurants and have a lovely upscale location near the beach and discos. The atmosphere, decor... More

I've eaten here many times and it always consistantly acceptable. Service is good not great. This last time I ordered a grouper and they served sea bass and insisted it was grouper. Seriously! Having said that the sea bass was ok. If you want a steak or sea bass and you're in Merida this is place.

This restaurant was very upscale and highly sophisticated. Their ambience and atmosphere was plush and they provide their customers with outstanding selection and service. My dinner was delicious and I might say servings were quite ample. The waiters were very attentive to me during the entire meal. I can say that this restaurant was a very nice surprise while I... The setting is nice and the place was packed for lunch, prices are a bit high but not too much. A few dishes are argentine classics and some have a local twist, the waiter that served us was very polite but a bit slow and their colleagues didn't seem to worried to help even having the spare time to do... We had dinner for 4. Very generous portions especially crispy tuna starter. Main courses mostly steaks. Good prime rib. Not so keen on the filet mignon. Unfortunately one of the main courses failed to arrive and had not been ordered. Busy place but table by us was having a powerpoint lecture at the table. Prices reasonable.

There are a few restaurant groups operating in Merida with multiple restaurants. The owners of La Recova, also have La Parrilla and their La Recova pop-up restaurant for the holidays in Chicxulub. Each of these groups pride themselves on their food, ambience and service. We had dinner at La Recova on Saturday night. As usual, we arrived around 8 pm... More

This steak house is popular, which means crowded and loud. The waiters move frantically from kitchen to tables often making what seems like unnecessary trips which adds to the clatter--- making dining less than relaxing or pleasant. The steaks are pretty good for Mexico. The parking is free (valet). Despite the number of wait staff, it was often difficult to... More

We wanted to have a special meal for our last night in Merida so we carefully looked through the TripAdvisor reviews and picked this place. Our choices were somewhat limited by the fact it was a Sunday night. It was a big disappointment. First it's far out of the center of the city, in the suburbs. The decor was attractive... More

While househunting, my Realtor was telling me about the wonderful food at La REcova as we drove by...I'm glad I made her turn around! The restaurant is lovely to look at, the service is impeccable and the food is flawless. I had a local fish grilled perfectly with just enough flavoring as to not hide the flavor of the fish... More
