We were part of a group of twelve who came for lunch. This place didn't miss a beat. Terrific food. Impeccable, prompt service. Excellent value. There must be a waitstaff of ten or more. Men over 40 predominantly, like good restaurants in Italy, who are professional and take great pride in their work while seeming to have a good time.... More

Best Seafood restaurant in Merida, by far! Excellent entrée choices, my favorite is the crab-stuffed fish filet with a spicy chile salsa: In Spanish, "Filete relleno de jaiba en salsa de chile Xcatic". Great service and nice ambiance. Provecho!

I loved the food, it was everything it was made out to be. The piguas (prawns) are huge, but a bit pricey. The lobster tail was good, and the banana pie was delicious. Excellent service from Jose Luis and Alejandra.

This pretty restaurant has a very maritime feel with its painted murals and blue tablecloths. I really needed a guide to navigate the very extensive seafood menu. As a starter I ordered the coconut shrimp which was beautifully presented in a coconut shell and tasty sauce. I ordered a chef's special for my entree with a garlic and butter sauce.... More

Down a large street, in the middle of a somewhat decrepit neighborhood lies La Pigua, standing out from its surroundings. There appears to be valet service for those who arrive by car, but we walked from the Hyatt Regency, only about 10 minutes away. We were a bit early (7:30 pm), and the place was surprisingly empty. We were given... More

Merida has a great gastronomic experience, but all around pork. La Pigua demonstrate that Merida also has a lot to offer in seafood. (Shame that the service could be a lot better).

La Pigua has fish down. I and my three companions shared bites of our entrees, each distinctively different and perfectly executed. Service is professional, rooms quiet for conversation. This restaurant is an oasis.

I really liked this restaurant. I had the blue crab appetizer and the blur crab stuffed fish filets. Very well prepared, cooked perfectly. Service was excellent and the wait staff very helpful, even if you don't speak much Spanish. Very large menu with various styles of cooking. The place for an upscale meal. Gets crowded later, after nine.
