Merida has a great gastronomic experience, but all around pork. La Pigua demonstrate that Merida also has a lot to offer in seafood. (Shame that the service could be a lot better).

Excellent crab claws and giant fresh water shrimp! What an incredible dining experience! Great service and very, very fresh seafood.

La Pigua has fish down. I and my three companions shared bites of our entrees, each distinctively different and perfectly executed. Service is professional, rooms quiet for conversation. This restaurant is an oasis.

I really liked this restaurant. I had the blue crab appetizer and the blur crab stuffed fish filets. Very well prepared, cooked perfectly. Service was excellent and the wait staff very helpful, even if you don't speak much Spanish. Very large menu with various styles of cooking. The place for an upscale meal. Gets crowded later, after nine.

Went to La Pigua last week and order Pulpo a las Brasas (grilled octopus) and it was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! This was the best octopus dish I've ever had! The restaurant was nice, located near Paseo Montejo in a very beautiful area of Merida. If I ever come back to Merida I will definitely go and eat at La Pigua again. Highly... More

The menu was very nice is the best I can day about La Pigua. The food not so much. I had oysters that were warm and filled with water. The fish was definitely not fresh and I used the same fork and knife through out the service. My friends had an equally unsatisfying experience. Definitely off list.

I havnt tried too many seafood places in Merida but I am sure this is one of the best places there is. The staff were very friendly but they do press a bit on tips and didnt want to return changes. For weeks I was looking for a good seafood restaurant in the city and, despite being in most of them, decided to go back to La Pigua. It was a special ocassion so we asked for king praws over a coconut and a big Francis Drake´s salad (the best seafood salad I´ve ever tried). Service was really fast and friendly.... More

This was some of the best seafood we have ever had. The coconut large shrimp was awesome! The waiters were very nice & very accomadating. We ask them to help pick something for us and what they chose couldn't have been any better. When we move there we will be eating there more often:) Tim & Shelby Taylor
