This was one of the first places we ate after arriving in Merida, ripe for the plucking. The location is lovely, with outdoor tables between the theater and a church with a liitle square where locals sell their art work. The food is poor and expensive. We felt taken for a ride which is not a nice feeling, especially when... More

We stopped for lunch on a rainy afternoon in Merida, thought a salad would be nice that day. The waiter was pleasant and the atmosphere from another time, quite pleasant. We both ordered the shrimp salad and a beverage. The salad was predominately iceburg lettuce and, a few wedges of underripe tomatoes and lots of thin onion slices. Several poached... More

The best part of this place is the old world European atmosphere. When I was in college, I used to stop here for a cappuccino in the afternoons. It hasn't changed. The waiters are very nice and the old time music that sounds like it's coming from a gramophone add to the atmosphere. The only complaint I have is that... More

I honestly cant believe how bad the food was here. We ordered steak, which consisted of an old, cold piece of stewing beef, and chicken tacos which were by far the worst we've had, also cold. When we complained the food was cold, they simply put the meat in the microwave for 30s and returned it. Prices were above average... More

I wouldn't say the food is excellent but it's adequate. The service is usually friendly but not a stand-out. But something always draws me to this place when I am in Merida. I love watching the world go by from these tables, I guess. The little Mayan girls selling me scarves delight me. And I do like the music (but... More

We just had coffee and ice cream while we listened to the musicians who play every night. The outside tables and music provide a very pleasant evening near the Grande Plaza.

People from Merida is very nice, kind and friendly but this place is totally the opposite. The restaurant was a couple of meters away from our hotel, it wasn't full reason why we chose it. The prices were very high for Merida and the quality of the food very poor, a total disappointment. Our waiter was very nice, we asked... More

Before or after a concert, this is the place to sit and relax, with a cofee or a Bandera (tequila with lemon and salsa). Snacks were delicious too.

We did try and sit there a number of times, beacuse it is right next to the Peon Contreras theatre in the very centre of town, has live music and you can watch the world go by. However, the margaritas were good one time, awful the next (made with some instant syrup rubbish instead of lime juice and cheap tequila),... More
